Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said today.
Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia.
Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP.
Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.

Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP. More likely, some Frenchmen from Reuters were probably out there to do a story on the meteorite and their odors made the locals sick...

Soon the brigade will show up with the wisecracks about tin foil.
I doubt there is anything to it, but am reminded of the old saying “Some things are true whether you believe in them or not”
Alien DNA or pathogens could easily eradicate much of the life on Earth. We have no resistance, our immune systems might not even recognize it as dangerous. An example would be you can get a piece of glass embedded in your body and you have no immunological responses at all.
