Regardless of his particular circumstances, the question was a very valid one.

He’s stated many positions with which conservatives would be in agreement. They are all on the web for folks to read. Just because he doesn’t attend a debate that will likely be seen by very few, doesn’t mean he’s not a worthy candidate.

Well at some point I would welcome a focused debate of the top 4 or so candidates. I don’t need to listen to Ron Paul’s crap. Many of the other 9th tier candidates may say things I like but haven’t a prayer and they take time away from the ones who have a chance.

God intended her to be dead. You have NO idea what God intended. He might have 'intended' that her mother be spared the sorrow and be allowed to feed her child. She was starved to death. Did God intend that?

Too bad his comments don’t seem to match his record.

....first off this was the first debate Thompson was eligible to attend, and considering his late entry into the race, he does have some ground that he has to regain

Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

Monday, September 17, 2007

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that Fred Thompson is the top choice for 28% of Likely Republican Primary Voters. In the race for the Republican Presidential Nomination. Rudy Giuliani is the favorite for just 19%. John McCain is preferred by 14% and Mitt Romney attracts support from 12%. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee remains atop the second tier at 6%

Yep....looks like a lot of ground to make up.

I don’t understand that. Are they afraid of looking too patriotic? Are they afraid of Moveon.org? I don’t want anyone running who is ashamed of being patriotic or afraid of being blackmailed.

Hunter: “China emerging as a military superpower.”

Hunter is the only candidate who really understands that; hence, my tagline.

True, though with the way the primary season is becoming compressed, it’s going to take someone starting to exclude the third tier candidates since they won’t have dropped out by themselves.

If that happens, I wonder if Alan Keyes will attempt another gatecrashing??

Given the types of question on tap... mothing to gain, everything to lose. Simple as that. Again, no publicity means no consequences for ducking the debate.

To be honest, if my preacher did start taking a political stance at the pulpit, I would get up and leave. More power to him, and I will vote with my feet.

I personally believe that politics don’t belong at the pulpit.

A pulpit is to preach about the word of God to unite us, not some political ideology, that will divide us.

However in Church meetings and other church events the pastor has talked about his political beliefs, in a more informal setting. That I am ok with.

These are just my feelings.

Good question. He is either afraid to debate or believes it is beneath him. Either way is bad.

He's out on the campaign trail, just like he meant to do when he entered the race. He plans to take part in some of the debates, but not all of them.

You mean Jean 'I was in Vietnam' Ketsup? They worked for him. He won the nomination. Not that it did him any good.

But thanks for trying.

“will you legislate that Chaplains can pray according to their faith?”....

Actually, a good issue but a poorly asked question. Presidents don't "legislate." Legislatures (congress) do that.

Presidents are executives. The question should have been, "Will you sign a bill (executive order?) that permits Chaplains to pray according to their faith?"
