In the first longitudinal, peer-reviewed, scientific study of its kind, researchers have concluded some homosexuals can change their "orientation" through religiously mediated guidance.
Researchers Stanton L. Jones and Mark A. Yarhouse released the results Thursday of a three-year study during an address at the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference.
Their conclusions contradict the claims of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association, which contend such change in sexual orientation is impossible and attempting to pursue it likely will cause depression, anxiety or self-destructive behavior.
The new study concluded such changes do not cause psychological harm to the patient.
Nicholas A. Cummings, former American Psychological Association president, praised the research.
"This study has broken new ground in its adherence to objectivity and a scientific precision that can be replicated and expanded, and it opens new horizons for investigation," he said.

I’m not surprised. In Christ, all things are possible. Without Christ, one is forced to live in squalor and misery like the APA recommends....
If your lad got done for punching the fruiter AFTER he grabbed him , then you may want to think about speaking to a lawyer.
When I was at school , anyone doing that was tied to a stool and ducked in the river .
I did not see anything in the article that suggests "objectivity" or "scientific precision," which are problematic in the social sciences to begin with. And then there is this buried deep within the article:
"We found that 15 percent of our sample of about 100 claimed to actually have changed from homosexuality to heterosexuality," he said. "These people experienced significant enough change that they really felt like they had left one sexual orientation to shift into another."
He acknowledged "life is still complicated for these people, and some still have some residuals of their homosexual attractions."
I don't see how any objective person (go back to my first point), can claim that queers can change sexual orientation based upon this study when 85% of the homos did not switch teams, and of the 15% that allegedly turned straight, some of the those people are still sexually attracted to people from the same sex, which means -- HELLO -- that they are still queer.
Molestation is one of the chief causes of Same-sex attraction disorder ('homosexuality'). Molest a kid when he's young enough and you can turn anyone. That's why the gays go with the slogan "sex before 8 or it's too late" They can't reproduce so they must recruit.
Gee, a gay organization in New Jersey-Home of the flaming governor. Shocking!
Scroll down to "IVP Extra!". Watch Video 2 and 3. I didn't see a link for a video 1. Read the PDF docs.
In addition to the study, the APA Has No Disagreement With the Treatment of Unwanted Homosexual Attraction.
I've been saying this for years here. Change is indeed possible. Those who want change should have that opportunity and should not be prevented from knowing the opportunity exists.
.
Now I can see why a molestation might be the turning point to making someone gay.The kid has no understanding of whats going on except that what is happening to him feels pretty good.
Its the same as if you gave him a shot of heroin.Feels great but its the first step on a path to destruction.
I would like to know how the authors of the study selected the participants from the larger number of all participants in the Exodus program. I also question the conclusions that can be drawn from a longitutal study that has only been going to for a few years. The authors apparently began the study in 2000 or 2001 and the data probably ends in 2006, which basically leaves a five or six year window to study each of the test subjects. I would like to know what happens to the test subjects over the next 10 to 20 years. There is also the "impression-management factor," which is problematic in just about any social science experiment that relies upon surveys of the test subjects for the data from which the conclusions are drawn, particularly when the test subjects are aware of what the authors of the study are trying to achieve. In other words, test subjects sometimes say what the test authors want to hear, which may not refect the entire truth, and I suspect this is even more of a problem in situations such as this, where admitting to continued homosexual feelings is an admission of failure for someone in the Exodus program. I would also like to know the participant's commitment to homosexuality so that we can seperate the true homos from the experimentors, LUGS, drunks who will do anything once, college students playing truth or dare, and others who were never really homosexual in the first place.
“Now I can see why a molestation might be the turning point to making someone gay.The kid has no understanding of whats going on except that what is happening to him feels pretty good.”
I really don’t think that’s the mechanism. I think it’s a *huge* trauma that just won’t go away, and the kid has to find a way to deal with it. One way is through Stockholm syndrome, or identification with the aggressor, which allows him to defend himself by denying that something terrible was done to him, and to empower himself by doing it to others, thereby becoming the powerful individual.
The links in post 50 list additional information. Even Robert Spitzer changed his mind that gays can indeed change. The links in posts 76-79 contain additional information as well. Some people described in the links were leaders in the gay community so their prior commitment to homosexuality should not be in doubt.
NARTH's reparative therapy uses a different method of helping those who seek change. I believe NARTH disagrees with the methods used in this study and states reparative or reorientation therapy are best.
Some of those in the study "decided to accept gay identity and did not believe we would honestly report data on their experience." That's too bad as this study apparently provided all the test results no matter what they were.
Since there is no genetic test or procedure (experimental or otherwise) that can determine one's sexual orientation, we have to take people at their word. Whether they change from straight to gay or gay to straight, their word is the only evidence available.

“I get skeeved by homosexuals -at least by the thought of their sexual activities - but I’m skeeved by the thought of sexual activities between fat people and old people, as well.”
My problem is not skeeviness, just a sense of propriety. I also do not believe that they just “want to be accepted.” I believe they want to dominate the culture.
In any event, I am not going to pretend that I think sex of any kind between any people is equally ok. I do believe God has set standards, no matter whether you have a proclivity towards adultery, or fornication, or “serial monogamy,” or multiple wives, or dogs and cats, or same sex, or whatever.
I’m just not going to pretend it’s all the same diff, because it isn’t.
Aye you probably handled it the best way under the circumstances. I see youre a New Jersey Lass - haven’t been there but have seen it from S.O.Liberty Island . I find it surprising that an area with a reputation as being ‘spikey’ as we say round here , tolerates such faggoty behaviour. I was brought up in a village where this sort of thing never (knowingly) reared it’s perfumed head !
If any one had been that way inclined then they would have had to leave and go to Manchester or London I s’pose ; which is a bit unfair . I don’t hate them but carrying on like the one that goosed your lad - well , they don’t help their cause do they ?
No it doesn't at all. I just want them to keep it to themselves & out of the schools...What they want to do in their private lives is fine with me. When they start informing children its ok to be gay my temper flares up...lol Have a great day & it was lovely to meet you. ~Pandora~
