Jim McGreevey yesterday accused his soon-to-be-ex wife of "greedily" grabbing at the perks of being New Jersey's First Lady - and refusing to give them back.
In legal papers packed with snide and catty comments, the openly gay McGreevey told estranged wife Dina Matos McGreevey she can expect to get nothing from him.
Matos McGreevey had asked him to pony up $4,000 a month in alimony to help her live a lavish lifestyle like his.
"Her jealousy and contempt are almost out of control," he said.
"She greedily took the perquisites that my job offered her. ... Not only does she view [the governor's mansion] Drumthwackett as an entitlement, but she believes that she must be kept in that kind of lifestyle."
McGreevey resigned as governor in 2004 after announcing he was gay.
McGreevey's legal team said New Jersey law requires alimony payments only if the marriage lasted more than 10 years - and the McGreevey's is only three years old.
"As such, she is not entitled to alimony of any kind," said his lawyer Matthew Piermatti in the papers filed in Union Superior Court.
McGreevey, who pays $1,129 in child support, said his wife's complaint described his lavish lifestyle, concentrating on the 17-room mansion he lives in with his boyfriend.
"It does not belong to me," he said. "I have no lease and stay there only at the pleasure of its owner. ... I own no home."
And he lists his average income as $154,000 - a fraction of the $428,000 his wife claims he made last year and which, he says, included a one-time $250,000 payment for his book.
The pair's lawyers are due back in court next week.
Dina Matos McGreevey vs. Jim "Pretty Boy" McGreevey
It's hard to tell which one is worse.
Is she a gold digger?
Is he a deadbeat perverted dad?
These answers are obvious.
Seriously though...I feel sorry for their daughter. She doesn't deserve this.
The little girl can grow up to give full and honest blame to all the Unions and Democratic Party loyalists in New Jersey. If she makes it that far before committing suicide in some way.
She is probably regretting not pulling a Lorena Bobbitt while she had the chance.
Why isn’t NJ’s US attorney going after this guy? What a scumbag.
“Stiffs” might be a poor choice of words in this case....
Didn’t Hollywood praise a film in the past few years about a married person who “realized” (s)he’d been living a lie and abandoned the spouse and kid(s)?
Selfishness.
The Me-generation continues to live only for the here and now.
Yep, two bitches fighting it out.
Given that he threatened her physical health with his secret homosexual affairs, I think she is entitled to everything he owns and then some.
McGreedy woulod be more like it.
Typical...for a DemoPervert.
shouldn’t she get combat pay alimony. She must have run a pretty high risk of getting deadly STD given his lifestyle.
must ...resist...cheesy “stiff” joke...must resist...
How is it that he is only liable to wife and daughter for under 1200 per month.....???
"Her jealousy and contempt are almost out of control," he said. Hmmm he sounds like the btch too.
I have to say I hate Gay McGreedy. I hope the wife gets everything she can from him. I can't imagine how she must have felt ,standing there as he told the world he was gay. He is a pervert, who trolled the turnpike looking for fun.
Hey, they didn’t ask for this ............... you are the one who chose to ruin their lives.... be a man about it... you still owe your child a decent childhood...she will never recover from the nightmare you have made of her existence these past couple years...at least try to make it up to her..
Is he a deadbeat perverted dad?
I'm not sure about the "deadbeat" part.
48 k is hardly a lavish lifestyle.
They deserve each other.
