Need to know who said "Democracy is doomed to failure when the 51% of the population figures out they can take everything from the other 49%"? Or something like that.

thank you

UGH, high school dropouts.
BTW, I graduated 34th in my high school class without even trying, so your lowly attempt at character assassination has failed! I found high school boring and I didn't care back then about my education.
If I could go back and change things...

Yeah, just think, if you had really applied yourself and opened a book at least once, your GED diploma might've said you graduated 33rd in your class.

..."World" as in the entirety of human existence. Oh, that's right, you came out 34th in your GED class; you don't need no f'n dikshunary: The world is what it is, right now, this second, September 17, 2007, 14:05:32 GMT. Heck with all that history.

UGH...

Simply pathetic. I correct your misunderstanding and all you can do is snipe instead of admit you made a mistake.
"World" as in the entirety of human existence.
And that isn't right either as evidenced above. Or did you miss that?
Did you graduate or did you get a GED yourself?
Perhaps your GED spiel is actually projection.

You are correct, and have proven yourself correct all along, whereas your adversary has proven nothing nor documented nothing, except a faulty dictionary.

Seems to be a trend, even here on FR. People just "say things" and expect no challenges.

The United States of America IS NOT a democracy. Thanks for supporting that with facts. I'm worn out debating these factless wonders...gotta save my strength for 2008 to debate the other side.

We’re not a pure democracy

We’re not a pure democracy.

Fixed it.

You didn't correct anything, you d___ f___. You simply went to the CIA site and discovered that, yes, there are in fact democracies in the world that aren't direct democracies. At least I've gotten you to admit that much.

The USA is both a democracy and a republic. Look it up in your dikshunary. If you have one.

No sniping from the bushes. If you want to say something about a Freeper, have the guts to address him directly.

Look, I posted a standard definition of democracy. If you don't like it, look it up in a dictionary of your choice.

Main Entry: de·moc·ra·cy
Pronunciation: di-'mä-kr&-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
Etymology: Middle French democratie, from Late Latin democratia, from Greek dEmokratia, from dEmos + -kratia -cracy
1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections

That's what the USA is, a democracy.

Could be Robin Williams or Andy Rooney as well.

We’re moving from apathy to dependence right now.

You have got to be kidding! Here is your original reply...
The only democracies in the world are direct democracies.
It was YOU who declared that there were only direct democracies in the "world". ("World" as in the entirety of human existence.)
Then you come back and state...
...yes, there are in fact democracies in the world that aren't direct democracies.
You are seriously confused!

At least I've gotten you to admit that much.
I never claimed any such thing. I was the one that showed that YOU were incorrect and now you've even proven it with your own words. Where is it exactly that I was supposed to have admitted anything?

And I'm supposed to be the...how did you put it...stupid fornicator...
You're one funny guy! A real joker.

Look it up in your dikshunary.
BTW, I suggest you look into what our form of government is in something other than a dictionary. Try The Federalist Papers at The Avalon Project
Pay particular attention to #10 , #14 and especially #51...
In the compound republic of America, the power surrendered by the people is first divided between two distinct governments, and then the portion allotted to each subdivided among distinct and separate departments.

I also recommend The Madison Debates wherein you can read the intent of the Convention and The American Ideal of 1776: The Twelve Basic American Principles (especially Chap 6...Decentralized Government)
These are all so much better in finding out what form of government we have than a "dikshunary".

BTW...
Leave me alone.
I can't do that if you keep claiming that America is anything but a Republic.
To ignore your claim and not correct it would make me a partner and facilitator in our own ruination. I can't do that.
It would be easier for you to educate yourself so you don't keep spouting drivel.

Wow, congratulations on using a dictionary. Will wonders never cease?

Now, if only we could get you to understand that each word usually has several different valid definitions (hence, your difficulty with 'democracy,' 'aping,' etc.).

But, as you've explained, we understand that you got really, really bored with reading comprehension in the third grade and that concept is probably WAY too advanced for you.
