CNN Nominate a Hero (clear liberal bias)
CNN ^ | CNN

"CNN Heroes is featuring ordinary people making an extraordinary difference in the lives of others. Do you know someone who deserves to be honored as a CNN Hero?"

CNN features Mohammed Mamdani who "started the Muslim Youth Hotline, a confidential counseling service for other young Muslims. Now, at age 24, he has launched the Ansar Youth Project. Its goal: to help teens feel comfortable with their dual identities as Muslims in Western culture." http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2007/cnn.heroes/

CNN's bias comes out when you try to nominate someone. Natrually my first inclination is a US soldier who maybe risked his life to save a child's or a soldier living for over a year thousands of miles away to give strangers in a village a shot at a new life. But CNN will have none of that. Here's your options for the category you may select when you nominate someone, notice in which direction it slants:

Defending the Planet Fighting for Justice Community Crusader Medical Marvel Championing Children Young Wonder (Under 18)

Defending the planet makes one more a hero than stopping terrorists from butchering a village? Thank God for Larry Gibson (Today, he is fighting to protect his coal-rich land from mountaintop blasting and the consequences he fears it would have for the environment.) I mean, imagine, comparing him to say, Christian Bagge, Bob Hayden, Robert J. Dixon, SPC Lucas Crowe, Maj. Mark Bieger, Chris Walsh, Travis Patriquin, Justin Donnelly, Jamie Hovis, or Sgt. Renee Kraus, Major Jeff "Spanky" Peterson, Capt. Brennan Goltry, or Rick Rescorla...

Oh, crap. I despise these media propagandists. We are at war with a worldwide network of Islamic terrorists and our heroes are environmentalists and muslim support group organizers? When have you seen a CNN hero of the week for someone setting up a Christian phonebank?

yeah right, this is, after all, the network that equated christian fundamentalists to islamic terrorists.

I would think your nomination choice would appropriately fall under either “Defending the Planet” or “Fighting for Justice,” as our soldiers are doing both.

I admit that in my weaker moments I sometimes dream of being a liberal “hero”.

To go from mediocrity and obscurity to a life of wealth and fame, private jets, and celebrity simply by supporting a safe cause that is popular with the power structure.

In my better moments I guess I still think that people like Carlos Hathcock, and Mother Theresa are more important.

I hope you’re kidding...You know the first refers to Gore’s work and the second refers to social justice (aka liberalism), see here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1895870/posts
