"There's a big difference in paying a lot of lip service to supporting the Constitution and actually going out and supporting it with your vote," ...
lol.... So, all the excuses for Paul's votes, pork, and positions that aren't Constitutional aren't lip service.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ron Paul is a political Rorschach test. People don't really want to vote for Ron Paul, they want to vote for themselves, that is why debate about Paul's positions is really just people projecting what they believe..
Yes, that even goes for me.. I don't trust establishment government types who require more time explaining away their actions, so when I see someone that requires so much explanation of why they made votes that, for anyone else, would brand them a RINO, my distrust wall goes up.
IMHO, Ron Paul isn't a revolution, he is the establishment who is there to make anti-establishment types believe they are represented.

So, in other words, Ron Paul really isn’t libertarian enough for your taste. Is that correct?

No, more like Paul, in addition to being wrong on several vital issues to me, isn’t genuine enough for me. In other words, Ron Paul plays lip service to Constitutionalism as much as most career politicians and really just does what he needs to to keep his job (as was even implied late in the article.) The only difference than him and, say McCain, is that Paul says the word Constitution in every other sentence.
He is like the Rudy Guiliani of the Libertarians (if he still kept that title.)

I keep hearing he’s a big rough, tough Texan. Seems like that was a lie too.

I think the exact words were.. That big, tall, strong Texan.... I have it on good authority that several bloggers within the campaign debated that description several months ago and decided to stop using it as people were mocking it, Paul being shorter and about 50lbs lighter than half the other candidates. The newest lines/descriptions that will come out is to go back to Dr. Paul delivering 4000 babies.. and focus on his faith. In addition, watch for Paul to have to deliver a baby at one of his next rallies (not staged of course..)

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be sure to laugh when it happens.
Will they call it an ‘anchor baby’?

Ron Paul interprets the constitution as a document meant to support al Qaeda; he’s their unpaid apologist who accepts at face value their grievances and shares their desire to see the US humbled and subdued in a world where people like al Qaeda can call the shots.

I wouldn’t go that far.. I just think he is blinded by his own desire for the US to be back in a pre-Wilson era.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...................... You must be a Rudy supporter. Only a Rudy supporter would be bored by by the inspiring story of a man who's life reflects values of hard work, character, principle, and marital fidelity.
To: mnehrling
If that were true, he wouldn’t have so much venom for our current efforts in the world. I’m sure that the only way he can feel fully sure that his policies will stick is if America is beaten on the battle field in Iraq. Clearly, he favors that, not our victory.

Please provide a single example votes by Ron Paul in favor if a bill that has pork in it.

‘During his years in the House, Paul has been on more than his share of losing 434-1 votes, thanks largely to his habit of opposing any measure not specifically allowed for by the Constitution. ‘
Basically, he’s a cranky contrarian, and his followers mistake it for ‘creativity’. Its not.
Ron Paul has never once demonstrated any ‘eroding of civil rights’ although he talks about it as though its ‘real’ in every speech. He cannot cite a single instance as related to the Patriot Act, for example. He can’t name a single US citizen thats been ‘victimized’ in such a fashion by the Federal Government.
He’s all hat and no cattle.

Basically, hes a cranky contrarian, and his followers mistake it for creativity. Its not. Principle be damned eh? Go along with crowd. Blend in. Is that what you are calling for? BTW, why the hell are you on such "contrarian" "cranky" site as FR. Are you a troll?

Hard work? Character? Principle?
Just another weirdo - like his counterpart Cynthia McKinney! - who wants desperately to keep his job! He is enjoying his 15 minutes. He has found he cannot get any attention (or MONEY!) in the libertarian party or any independent party (like the idiot Perot) so he has to waste the air in the Republican debates.

“Principle be damned eh?”
His only principal seems to be ‘take whatever the GOP will give me in fundraising, then run over to the Libertarians and trash the GOP, unless of course there is a scheduled GOP fundraiser he benefits from. btw, love those shrimp earmarks....
” Go along with crowd. Blend in. Is that what you are calling for?”
Calling for? I just note he’s using contrarianism in place of creativity. I’m not ‘calling for’ anything.
” BTW, why the hell are you on such “contrarian” “cranky” site as FR.”
After watching the St Paulie Girls get their ass handed to them day after day after day here at FR, I don’t find it ‘contrarian’ nor ‘cranky’. I’m not surprised a Paulistinian does, however....(chuckle)
’ Are you a troll?’
Typical Paulie Girl. Makes an insinuation, without any facts, without bothering to check first.
Same thing Obi Ron does with his schtick ‘our rights are being trampled on!’ but never quite gets around to providing just ONE EXAMPLE of a US citizen having been victimized in such a fashion.
Ron Paul lives in a world of ‘theory’.
The rest of us live in the real world, and thats why he does so well in internet polling, but not in primaries.
And when he makes a third party run, what will you say then?
That the entire GOP base is nothing but ‘trolls’ perhaps?
Or, more likely, ‘Congressman Paul was screwed out of the GOP nomination by (wait for it....wait for it...) DIEBOLD!
Just like all leftwingnuts have done since 2000.
