Perhaps it was appropriate this was announced on 9/11 through a campus-wide e-mail, but we were informed that the University of Dayton (OH), a Catholic University established by the Society of Mary, has now set up a "prayer room" for Muslim students and staff, including Korans and "prayer rugs."
I do not know if the university felt this was mandated by government regulations (unfortunately, we take government money) or simply an bent knee toward "diversity," but I imagine the Fathers are rolling over in the cemetary.
All “tolerance” is is not naming wrong when you see it.
Oddly enough, right before reading your headline, I was noticing my bookmarks about the prayer rooms in US public schools. (I know that UD is a private, Catholic University even though it gets much public (Federal) money)
The titles below are not the original FR titles, since I have added the words school prayer to ensure that the bookmarks are easy to find.

I think that prayer rooms in public schools are a mistake. Schools with prayer rooms become "enforcers" for the local Imam. Muslim students who use the prayer rooms will notice which Muslim students do not use the prayer rooms.
There's a good chance that the local Imam will ask the praying students to let him know which other students are not using the prayer rooms faithfully.
America has a tradition of allowing people to practice their religion in the way they wish.
Public schools should not be in the business of "enforcing" strict adherence to Islam.
The choice to announce on 9/11 was especially tacky, kind of in-your-face. Is the Univ of Dayton generally on the liberal Catholic side or is this a new turn for them?

The University of Tulsa, which is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), not only has a Muslim prayer room, the university has a free-standing mosque on campus, complete with segregation of men and women.
My husband's cousin is buried in the cemetery which is located next to Marycrest. He was a Marianist brother who died in his teens of appendicitis. We've visited his grave often -- as students and when we've been back in that area.
My husband was encouraged by his family to attend UD because several of his relatives were Marianists.

Hate to be a nitpicker here but technically Muslim or Islam is not a race. It's a religion.
Not that I was aware of. However, I do tend to stay out of university politics-—but certainly the board of trustees must have known.

Islam isn’t a race. Not defending it, but it’s open to any races.
They have gotten far more so recently. Last year, for ex., we had a big event featuring a homosexual speaker talking about “tolerance” of gays, all sponsored by the University. Of course, there was no counter-balance to speak on the dangers-—not to mention the evil-—of it.
Like I said, when I got there, the Baptist Student Union was not permitted on campus.
That’s beyond disgusting. I thank God I was not hired at some of these places (such as UT) where I put in applications.
They are digging themselves a hole....wait till Christians begin asking for “prayer rooms” citing the coddling of the Muzzies to make their case!
