Kevin Everett might walk again after all.
The doctor who performed the spinal surgery on Everett told Buffalo TV station WIVB on Tuesday that Everett has voluntary movement of his arms and legs and as a result he is optimistic that Everett will walk again.

I know that Nick has been very active in raising funds to do research in this field. I wonder if any of his efforts might have gone into improved techniques or equipment that helped out in this situation?
That said, I am so glad to here about this seemingly positive outcome.
The National Hockey League, for example, treats every player who loses consciousness on the ice as if he has sustained a major spinal injury -- just in case. That became part of the league's standard operating procedure within the last couple of years.
Wonderful news. He’s in my prayers too.
“I wonder if any of his efforts might have gone into improved techniques ...” Nick’s work has without question helped to improve techniques and treatments. The institute in South Florida that he founded has made major breakthroughs in treatment options such as the use of induced coma and even adult stem cell treatments!
How marvelous are the fruits of an unfettered medical free market in this great nation.
Are you listening, Hillary?
Leni
I am glad
The answer is a resounding YES!!! Everett's miraculous recovery is a direct result of the research and treatments created by the MIAMI PROJECT.
Dr Cappuccino used a protocol that was invented by the Miami Project -- he immediately began an ICE/SALINE IV Protocol at the stadium to induce a state of Hypothermia in Everett. This protocol slowed all of Everett's bodily functions and prevented the spinal cord from swelling.
WHEN (not if) Kevin Everett WALKS out of this hospital it will be directkly because of Nick and Mark Bounticonti and the Miami Project.
Dittos. I might say, though, that I thought that they were a little pessimistic about his case for it to have happened only a couple of days ago. I’m not a doctor, but I do believe both in miracles and in the amazing power of the human body to heal itself, especially with the help of the excellent medical care we have in the US.
Wow, did I butcher the spelling of Nick’s name! B-O-U-N-T-I-C-O-N-T-I ... he was a pretty good linebacker to be so small.
What, he may walk without the help of John Edwards??
Yes!!!!
My hope was that if Dennis Byrd could recover, so could Kevin. Looks like the chances of that happening have greatly increased. “Rise Up and Walk” Kevin!!!!

I do remember the Bounticontis getting this project going.
They would be rightly gratified to see this fruit of their project.
Hopefully, this technique is in use by our military for spinal
injury cases that would benefit from it.
That was also said at the press conference.
I can see how that could happen. I know I would react the same way, it’s a natural instinct.
Sounds like a lot of prayers being answered.
Thanks for the ping.
I pray he will be ok, miracles can happen and so many new treatments now..........very scary to see things like these injuries happen.
Well I hope Nick and his family get some satisfaction in knowing that from their tragedy and their subsequent dedication has come such great good.
While it is a tragedy for anyone to receive such a terrible injury, it is doubly disheartening to see it happen to an athlete in his prime.
Hopefully, this good news will continue and Everett will walk out of the hospital soon.
Great news! :) Prayers continue for a full recovery!
