US Democratic hopeful Kucinich meets Assad, blasts Bush

US Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich, on a Mideast visit that included a stop in Syria, said the country lambasted by the Bush administration deserves credit for taking in more than a million Iraqi refugees.

Kucinich, a strong anti-war opponent who trails far in the US presidential polls, also said he won't visit Iraq on his trip to the region because he considers the US military deployment there illegal.

"I feel the United States is engaging in an illegal occupation ... I don't want to bless that occupation with my presence," he said in an interview in Lebanon, after visiting Syria. "I will not do it."

Kucinich, who accused the Bush administration of policies that have destabilized the Mideast, met with Syrian President Bashar Assad during his visit to Damascus. He said Assad was receptive to his ideas of "strength through peace."

He also praised Syria for taking in Iraqi refugees.

"What most people are not aware of is that Syria has taken in more than 1.5 million Iraqi refugees," Kucinich said. "The Syrian government has actually shown a lot of compassion in keeping its doors open, and being a host for so many refugees."

Kucinich said he would ask UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to follow up on the "dire conditions" in southern Lebanon, especially Israeli cluster bombs leftover from the war that have killed more than 30 and injured at least 200 since the fighting's end.

"There has to be a commitment to cleaning up these cluster bombs," Kucinich said.

This sick puke makes Jane Fonda circa 1970 look like a reasonable person.

re : "cleaning up these cluster bombs"

Dear Dennis; Clean up your loyalies. We'll worry about the CBUs.

With traitors like this in our own government, who needs enemies?

Oh, yeah, the scumbag drooling moonbat traitor can "bless" Assad's depraved regime with his presence but he cannot "bless" our troops next door with his presence. That's OK, moonbat Kucinich, because scum like you should never go anywhere near the great US Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen!! What a jerk, he thinks he can "bless" anyone with his presence.

I don't want to bless that occupation with my presence

That should be a good line for a cartoon mocking the moonbat left -- why does any 'Rat think his presence is such a blessing to anyone???

Jane Fonda will NEVER look like a normal person. Kucinich can only look like another Jane Fonda.

Both are despicable.

He expresses the sentiments of all Democrats without equivocation-the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Unfortunately, he makes no effort to distinguish George Bush from the United States, leaving the question of whether he hates America more or George Bush more. It is perhaps rhetorical since his hatred of one ultimately harms the other.

Maybe .... Everywhere you look the government is failing us. With repsect to illegal,s it’s broken at the state and federal level, and if anyone at the local level tries to do something about it they get smacked down.
Then there are traitors in Congress like Kucinich and Schumer yesterday who we cannot get out, due to gerrymandering and the power of incumbency, and wield way too much power considering the narrow portion of the electorate that elect them.

Dennis, and far too many elected others, appear to be working overtime to prove that our current mismanaged government, our Constitution and the Bill of Rights are no longer relevant.

These traitorous dogs can only be brought to heel if a strong leader is elected who will draw others who think like HE does into a right-wing conservative party. He would be the only person who could close our porous borders, deport ALL illegal aliens and contain those muslims who now live within these borders.

I, for one, am sick to death of these mealy-mouthed liberal pansies who continue to run our lives and plot to destroy our future.

LOL What a ridiculously inflated ego he must have to think that his presence is some kind of special “blessing” to anyone.

Just disgusting. Our country is replete with forums to discuss foreign policy without having to go to a terrorist sponsoring country, sitting next to a terrorist and bad mouthing our country. Especially if you are a Congressman or Presidential candidate.
