Singer JAMES BLUNT fears his Army background has ruined his chance of making 'exciting' music.
The former British Cavalry officer admits he is not known for making music that wows the critics - and blames it on not meeting other musicians during his time in the armed forces.
He is now seeking help from other musicians to broaden his musical range.
He explains,"I do think I need to widen my influences so that everything doesn't end up the same.
"My publisher recommends interesting people to work with. You have to remember I come from the Army: I don't know any musicians."

This is very exciting news.
More exciting than reading about Pavarotti.

I don’t know what’s worse: that he pretends to be a musician or that he really was a British cavalry officer!

There were some reasonable tunes on his first album. Shame You’re Beautiful was so horribly played to death though.
To: CatoRenasci
Maybe he should listen to The Trooper by Iron Maiden.

He really was a cavalry officer. Graduated Sandhurst and served in the Blues and Royals (Prince Harry’s outfit) in Kosovo.

Most local radio stations are run by talentless wannabes with no ear for a decent tune, and just play the same five songs over. and. over. again.

I am no fan of James Blunt but the article drastically misrepresents, or reads way to much, into actually what he said.
He stated “You have to remember I come from the Army: I don’t know any musicians.” It is not like he was in theater arts classes in the Army, or hanging out with a bunch of hippie pot smokers.

“Exciting music” - U.S Cavalry style: “The Girl I Left Behind Me”, “She Wore A Yellow Ribbon”, “Bonny Blue Flag”, “Garry Owen”.

Jimi fricken Hendrix was a paratrooper.
Ergo, this kid's nothing but dull musician.

Shawn Mullins was an infantry officer in the U.S. Army...his music is much better than Blunt's.
