A day in the life of President Bush (photos) 9-4-2007

After his surprise trip to Iraq yesterday where he met with the troops in Anbar Province President Bush flew to Sidney, Australia to attend the APEC summit

Today President Bush commended the Senate for confirming Jim Nussle as OMB Director

I thank the Senate for its strong bipartisan vote confirming Jim Nussle as Director of the Office of Management and Budget.

Jim's confirmation comes at a critical time for our Nation's budget as Congress considers this year's annual spending bills. With less than a month until the new fiscal year begins, Congress has not sent any of the twelve appropriations bills to my desk. We must work together quickly to get the people's work done on time. Jim is a strong advocate for fiscal discipline and pro-growth economic policies, and he will help lead efforts to balance the budget by 2012 by restraining federal spending and keeping taxes low. And as OMB Director, he will work to provide transparency regarding federal spending and earmarks, strong accountability in government, and better results for taxpayers. I congratulate Jim and his family on today's confirmation and thank him for his continued service to our Nation.

Statement by the President

President George W. Bush today announced that he has named Barry Jackson as Assistant to the President for Strategic Initiatives and External Affairs. Mr. Jackson will be responsible for managing the White House offices of Political Affairs, Public Liaison, Intergovernmental Affairs, and Strategic Initiatives.

Since 2002, Mr. Jackson has served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy to the Senior Advisor. Prior to this, he served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Strategic Initiatives. During his tenure, he has been responsible for facilitating coordination between the White House and external coalitions on major Presidential initiatives.

"Barry is a capable and trusted advisor who is widely respected for his sound judgment and strong ability to build consensus around initiatives that are important to all Americans," President Bush said. "Throughout my Administration, I have valued his advice and leadership. I appreciate his continued service."

Prior to joining the Administration, Mr. Jackson served as Chief of Staff to Congressman John Boehner and Executive Director of the House Republican Conference. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa.

He’s seen how much our military love Bush. He’s jelllllous of Bush...big time. He wishes he had the balls, fortitude, brains, guts to have to accomplished what Bush has accomplished. He’s seen it and he knows it. He’d never admit it...but he knows. We all know bildabeast and hildabeast did everything they could to destroy it. And the military despised both of them.

He can’t STAND it!! We’ll be paying for his despicable routing of our incredible, long-suffering military for decades. It’s miraculous that we’ve been able to endure these last years with the forces he AND SHE purposely stripped.

~~~~~
Mr. Clinton’s Army
The military has suffered through eight years of neglect.
http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/mhelprin/?id=65000400
~~~~~~

“During eight years, Clinton decimated America’s military. Our forces were cut almost in half under his stewardship.

Research and development on all new weapons systems were brought almost to a halt as other nations continued to build. Clinton destroyed nearly our entire arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons. Monsters like Saddam flourished as Clinton bombed aspirin factories, tent cities in Afghanistan and worthless radar stations in the Iraqi desert.”

After all the misery the troops had to suffer under Clinton, you just know (and see) how much and WHY they love Pres. Bush ... he's on their side, and focused on his solemn duty to protect America, not his own butt.

Sorry, but I could not find a quote of the day

#######

I love the lead of the IBD Editorial that Dr Deb posted on yesterday's thread.

"Iraq War: With the arrival of the commander-in-chief in Iraq's once-forbidden Anbar province, the surge is now complete. The two most powerful boots in the world are on the ground, and they aren't running away."

G’day! Freepers are Everywhere! Thanks for your eye witness reports.

I was in Vancouver when APEC met and when Bill Clinton closed the Lions Gate Bridge (as major as the Sydney Harbour Bridge), so he could jog on a scenic path around Stanley Park. (two different visits of Clinton, I think.)

My brother was in Manila for the APEC meeting when Clinton and his entourage took over an entire hotel, and traffic on a major highway was totally closed (a divided highway made one way on both sides).

So don’t let any Aussies get away with b!tching about traffic problems during these events. It happens at every venue.

In Vancouver, when the protesters sat in the street to prevent the limos from departing from the meeting place to the airport: 18 heads of state all going to 18 departing aircraft; the police used pepper spray on them in full view of the TV cameras. What an uproar! But it was effective, and the limos passed through.

It was great TV!!!!

I love the fact that Secretary of State Rice does not feel the need to wear a “power” red suit, like so many of our female senators and congress members.

After months of stubbornly refusing even to consider cutting U.S. troop levels in Iraq, Bush has suddenly decided the idea is no longer taboo. (Jason Reed/Reuters) (notice no bias by Rooters /sarcasm>)
