Manassas Mulls Immigration Bill to Limit Services (Virginia)
Washington Times ^ | 4 September 2007 | Natasha Altamirano

The city of Manassas, VA could become the next Virginia locality to enact measures targeting illegal aliens. Manassas City Council member Marc T. Aveni, a Republican, yesterday said he wants to introduce a resolution similar to one passed by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in July, which would deny public services to illegal aliens and toughen local immigration enforcement.

"I need to get the rest of the council on board, but I think it"s absolutely something we would want to do," Mr. Aveni said, citing inactivity at the federal and state levels as one of the main motivating factors. "It's becoming apparent that, if anyone's going to save Manassas, it's Manassas."

Mr. Aveni made the comments at a news conference organized by the anti-illegal-immigration group Help Save Manassas at the Prince William County Government Center. Manassas would join several localities that recently passed or are considering immigration-related resolutions, including Loudoun, Culpeper, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Chesterfield, James City and Page counties.

Corey A. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, applauded the willingness of neighboring localities to take a stand on illegal immigration, unlike Fairfax County, where he said, Gerald E. Connolly, chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, has said that immigration enforcement is a federal job. "One of the reasons I was upset with Gerry Connolly is because in order to do this effectively, we need to do it on a regional basis," said Mr. Stewart, at-large Republican.

"So we're more than happy that Manassas wants to join." Mr. Connolly, a Democrat, has shrugged off the criticism as political posturing and highlighted successful efforts to crack down on single-family homes that have been used as illegal boarding houses....

Eagles Up.

This thing is SPREADING (notwithstanding recent judicial tyranny by the courts thwarting the will of the vast majority of American citizens).

It's a step in the right direction, but the real villians I think are the greedheads who employ them.

Also our welfare system when it allows able-bodied citizens to become indolent and shiftless.

And at the root of it all, the venal and corrupt politicians, who foster this insanity to feather their own nests.

Were it in my power, I would pick the most decent amoung the illegals to stay and send every crooked politician, cheap labor exploiter, and arrogant parasite I could find in every "Department Of..." and deport them in their place.

To me, that would be justice.

We may differ here.

I on the other hand, would never legalize or "regularize" an illegal alien, no matter how rotten their employers are. I would make him or her go, absolutely, back out of the United States and to the end of the application line at a US Embassy or Consulate. Further, there would be an existing file note in his or her ICE file, if it were in my power, that showed that at once she/he did enter the USA illegally, and they would be subject to immediate deportation were they to incur a crime while they were admitted back in the United States.

correction: After the illegal alien had left the USA, had applied outside of the USA and taken his/her turn, and had re-entered the US LEGALLY, they would be on a close watch. At the first crime, they would be out of the USA for good, never ever a chance to come back.

And it’s about g d time!

I will say this about the courts though, how in the sam hell can they fault people for trying to enforce the immigration laws on the books?

It was absurd for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to put a stay on Bush’s efforts to hold businesses accountable for hiring illegals.

This is the very nature of Judicial Tyranny. They will twist the law and the Consitution to fit any of their liberal interpretations, and vice versa. And they wont think twice about stomping all over THE AMERICAN PEOPLE in the process. WTF anyways, they have their gated community and liberal tupperware parties to go home to afterwards.

I agree with your comments on judical tyrany.

Look, we both agree that federal court justices shouldn’t be subject to political whims (Bill Clinton being the poster boy for why not), but it’s come time for some justices to be reviewed and jetesoned.

I don’t know if you give the court the ability to do peer review or what, but the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is basicly a rogue court. The left knows who their point men are, and they shop the judges for certain outcomes.

This needs to stop.

Give it time. It may take a few more tragedies in your community, however.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

That’s what I’d like to avoid..

However, you may be assured I will expose the responsibility of the elected and hired officials of my sancturay city and sanctuary town for any death or mayham caused by illegal aliens..

Manassas Mulls Immigration Bill to Limit Services

"Mulls"? It should be Federal law that any local official who distributes benefits be put in jail! What an insane nation we have become.

After the illegal alien had left the USA, had applied outside of the USA and taken his/her turn, and had re-entered the US LEGALLY, they would be on a close watch

First, the overwhelming majority of illegal aliens would not even qualify for a non-immigrant visa, tourist or otherwise, let alone an immigrant visa. Moreover, if their names have been recorded in the visa lookout files as having entered the US illegally, they would not be allowed to return.

"We may differ here."

I don't think we differ that much at all. I don't really advocate allowing illegals to stay, but rather I want to express my feelings about the American business interests, and opportunistic politicians (including judges) who are the real cause of this mess.

Setting aside the very bad individuals who are among those who sneak in, there are many I'm sure that I would have more respect for than our home-grown greedheads and politicians.

I feel great frustration and yes anger towards the illegals, but my contempt, and dare I say hatred, for the vile Americans who exploit them and wreck our country in the process is becoming immeasureable.

"I agree with your comments on judical tyrany."

As do I.

I personally regard black robed lunatics, and the brainwashing Marxists in our education system to be the most dangerous threats we face.

We have brave and skillful soldiers, sailors and airmen who stand ready to defend us from external threats, but I often wonder if we in this country truly realize just how powerful, deadly and determined our home-grown enemies are.

Imagine if you will locking up your doors at bedtime, in a house full of cottonmouths.
