A homepage that is known to have links to the terrorist network Al-Qa'idah has tried to recruit suicide bombers to carry out an attack in Denmark, Nyhedsavisen reported.
The attempt to recruit people took place four days before the police in Denmark arrested eight young men in Copenhagen on suspicion of trying to plan a terrorist attack: an attack that was supposed to be revenge for the Jyllands-Posten Muhammad caricatures.
"We are registering a suicide brigade here, which is on the way to Denmark (...) I ask you to register your names in order to spread fear among the Danish people and show them how much we love Allah's messenger (...) For me it would be an honour to be the first suicide bomber," said the message on the homepage, which was spotted by the US SITE Institute and discussed in a report that Nyhedsavisen has obtained. The SITE Institute monitors Islamic websites and discovered the message about Denmark on the homepage of the al-Ekhlaas' debate forum.
According to the report, the homepage is a forum for militant Islamists and has links to Al-Qa'idah. Jakob Scharf, head of the Danish Security Intelligence Service (PET) declined to comment on the matter.
Thanks Oorang for the heads up.
I sit in total amazement as to how jihadis can recruit on the internet and not once do you ever see a potential “martyr” ask, “If this is so important, why don’t you go first? Why don’t you do it?”
Of course, no one ever asks the recruiter that.
Why, I don’t know.
Jihad — another day.

Three World Vision International aid workers shot in Darfur while delivering humanitarian aid
By Michael Ireland
Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service
NEW YORK (ANS) — A convoy of two World Vision International (WVI) vehicles with eight people on board was ambushed on September 20 in South Darfur near Bulbul Timisgo, a small village on the main road between Nyala and Kass. The vehicles were clearly marked as humanitarian transport.
According to the UN Office of Humanitarian Affiars, two WVI staff were shot in the head, and a third in the arm. The remaining staff suffered minor injuries caused by glass fragments and shrapnel. On the request of the non-governmental organization (NGO), the United Nations arranged for medical evacuation.
Upon arrival in Nyala, two of those shot were flown to Khartoum for medical attention, while one was treated in Nyala due to the severity of his injuries. The other five World Vision staff were treated and released. All have survived the attack.
“This is a horrifying and brutal attack on aid staff who are working to save the lives of Sudanese people,” said John Holmes, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator.
“We call on the Government of Sudan to act with all speed to identify those responsible and ensure that they are held accountable for their crime,” he added.
Clashes among rival Arab tribes in this area in 2007 have caused significant levels of destruction and displacement. The area is also beset by banditry and violence. World Vision, one of the worlds largest NGOs, provides a wide range of relief assistance in South
Darfur, with projects in food aid, nutrition, water, education, sanitation, and agriculture, among others. They employ several hundred staff there.
Attacks against relief workers increased by 150% from June 2006 to June 2007. Since the start of the year, some 98 vehicles have been hijacked, some 105 staff were temporarily taken hostage, more than 66 humanitarian personnel have been physically or sexually assaulted, and 61 convoys have been ambushed and looted.
Those responsible are groups of armed men whose origins are often hard to ascertain with certainty. In other words, those who have come to help the population are increasingly targeted themselves.
In 2007, the aid community has sought $1.25 billion for humanitarian action in Sudan, including $652 million for Darfur.

His mentor turns on bin Laden
International Herald Tribune ^ | September 21, 2007 | Fawaz A. Gerges

After Osama bin Laden reappeared on the world’s television screens on the sixth anniversary of 9-11, commentaries focused on his newly blackened beard and his changed message. But more important was the reaction of a Saudi cleric. In an open letter, one of bin Laden’s most prominent Saudi mentors, the preacher and scholar Salman al-Oadah, publicly reproached bin Laden for causing widespread mayhem and killing. “How many innocent children, elderly people, and women have been killed in the name of Al Qaeda?” asked al-Oadah in a letter on his Web site, Islamtoday.com, and in comments on an Arabic television station. “How many people have been forced to flee their homes, and how much blood has been shed in the name of Al Qaeda?” Al-Oadah is a prominent Salafi preacher with a large following in Saudi Arabia and abroad. In the 1990s, he was imprisoned by the Saudi regime along with four leading clerics for criticizing the kingdom’s close relationship with the United States, particularly the stationing of American troops there after the 1991 Gulf war. It is worth noting that the decision to post American forces in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Islam, was the catalyst for bin Laden’s murderous journey. Throughout the 1990s, he frequently cited al-Oadah as a critic of the Saud royal family and fellow Salafi who shared his strict religious vision and world view.

“Death to America,” “Death to Israel” in Iranian parade as Thug-In-Chief watches
Everyone loves a parade. Just before his glorious trip to the UN and Columbia University, during which he is sure to mesmerize his audience with a weird celestial light, just as he did last time, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad relaxes by watching a parade featuring banners that read al-mawt al-Amrika and al-mawt al-Israil — Death to America and Death to Israel.
You can see, however, that they are rendered in English on the same banners as “Down with USA” and “Down with Esrail.” (Thanks to LGF.)
