Underlying the hurry to disown the senator, of course, is the partys brutal agenda of trumpeting the gay-marriage issue. To the extent Senator Craig, a stalwart in the family values caucus, might morph into a blatant hypocrite before the voters eyes, he reflects on the partys record in demonizing homosexuality. The rush to cast him out betrays the partys intolerance, which is on display for the public in all of its ugliness. But it also betrays their political uneasiness as the next election approaches.

The
New York Times wants to inform readers this morning the GOP's taking a stand against moral perversion in high places is intolerance towards the homosexual agenda. As if trolling for sex in public bathrooms is a normal activity of United States Senators. Oh yeah - and there is the jeremiad against marriage. Then again, if the NYT had let us down by calling for his ouster, THAT would have been a surprise. Those liberals in the MSM are well... predictable.

They would have only called for his ouster if the GOP supported Craig and did not call for him to resign.

You know liberals - do the opposite. Its says a lot about them they find getting on one's hands and knees in a public bathroom to cruise for sex as being nothing objectionable. I do happen to differ with that view --- on moral grounds.

Maybe Craig will pull a Jeffords and switch parties.

Will the NyeT Times also denounce Chrissy Matthews for calling Senator Craig a “sexual deviant”?

Personally I think it would be refreshingly tolerant by the GOP to announce we as a party have no problems with a Senator who votes like a Republican but who lives the family values of a democrat (anonymous sex with men in public bathrooms)-
it ought to be up to the voters of Idaho to decide Senator Craig’s future.
If the US Congress/Senate want to take umbrage at his personal behavior then dust off the transcripts of the Gerry Studds censure hearing and substitute names and dates

I just read the transcript of the arresting officer's tape recording, and it seems the behavior in question was the officer seeing Craig's hand underneath the stall divider.
So, leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown alone in a canal on Chappaquiddick does not require stepping down from office, but this does?

I used a men’s restroom at MSP yesterday. Since there was no sign at the doorway that it was a Senator-free zone, I quickly made note that none of the stalls were occupied, so it was likely safe to complete my business in peace. Yuck.

Craig should switch to the Dem party, and get a townhouse with Barney Frank.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. This is up to the people of Idaho, sorry freepers you don’t get to decide...LOL..
The republican party needs to get out of peoples bedrooms and bathrooms.....There are so many other things that the republican party members should be concerned with, not someones sexual proclivity... You would shudder at what I do in my bathroom...hehehehe!!!!

I really didn't know until this story came out that there was such a thing as a queer catching john cop? LOL

The GOP isn't disowning Craig out of any sense of propriety. They're disowning him because he stands a very good chance of losing next year.
It's kinda refreshing to know that there are still some states in the U.S. where this kind of behavior will cause most people to vote against you.

Gee, where was the NY Slimes when Mel Reynolds, the Congressman (D-IL) who was convicted of child molestation, was pardoned by Der Slickmeister?

Similar incidents with Democrats are not newsworthy or scandalous, because the D-party supports homosexual marriage, “of course.”
Imagine what the Times editors would have written had the Republican leadership NOT pushed for Craig’s resignation.

Do you remember the Massachusetts Congressman who got a 17 year old male page drunk and “took advantage of him?” I don’t recall his name but I think he died within the last year or so. He had been reelected after the incident...
