Conservatives DUMP Senator Larry Craig, for sticking fingers under a bathroom stall wall.

Posted on 08/30/2007 7:50:09 PM PDT by pacificus

I read the transcript of the Larry Graig interview with the Minnesota police.

I don't like what I'm hearing from other conservatives. The liberals see a cheap Senate seat and you want to give it to them because a guy moved two fingers under the stall wall in an airport bathroom.

If they had the guy on tape asking for sex, paying for sex, or photographed in the act, or any other physical proof, then I would say that looks very very bad and he should go.

But that is not the case.

This is very lame, and those of you who have never had a disagreement with a law enforecement officer should hope that a cop never accuses you of something. Because by your own action, your professional career, and or political career, should be forit, merely on the word of the officer with no physical proof or corroborating evidence.

Those of you who pass judgement, on Larry Craig, merely on the heresay and liberal spin that has been run in the press, should be ashamed.

Politics is the art of the possible. The purpose of political action tend to lie outside of politics, but ignorance of the way things work is no way to accomplish your purposes.

Actually that is JUST what politics is. Mr. Smith, don't go to Washington, you won't do as well as Jimmy Stewart.

It is what politics has become and what we expect it to be. I expect more. And if a candidate geniunely offered as much to the voters, most would be ecstatic. Perhaps you can run a poll on the matter for us.

"Craig said he has a wide stance to keep his pants from falling down whilst sitting on the crapper."

So his "stance" was wide enough for his foot to travel all the way under the divider and touch the officer's foot in the next stall? Sit on your toilet right now and see for yourself how childishly implausible Craig's "wide stance" excuse is. If Craig had been concerned about his "pants falling down," all he had to do was abduct his knees. His feet could have stayed right where they were. There would be no need to splay his legs out with his feet under the divider of an adjacent stall, a stall that he knew very well was occupied. And if he were really using the toilet for its intended purpose, his pant waist would be at mid-thigh, meaning he could not have splayed his legs out that far without ripping his pants.

And the rest of his lame excuses are just as silly.

Yes, the naivete of objectivity is something to which I will continue to cling, your eloquent call for the "pursuit of the possible" to the dismissal of principle notwithstanding.

Actually most wouldn't beleive him, and would wonder what was in it for him.

It would be easier if he was not now trying to say he lied when he plead guilty before the media found out.

I wonder if he needs this to keep himself whole. Sometimes sin runs so deep that it eats away at all that is true in a person leaving emptiness except for the sin itself. When the sin is exposed, there is nothing left that is true. It would be hard to hold on to reality if there is nothing there that is true. But I do believe that the best thing he can do is ask the Lord for forgiveness and strength to make it through this.

Michael Vick says he has found the Lord. Even though he has lost everything, he has found the most valuable thing. I hope that Senator Craig finds the Lord in this situation because whatever the outcome, it will be what is best for him.

I’m thinking it’s likely that the report is written to make the arrest seem as “clean” as possible. There is also a posting at one of the queer websites that was cited in another FR thread where the “cruisers” were warning each other about the sting in the airport, with complaints that the cops were initiating contact.

Just a hunch.

And now you've finally read the transcript. My work is done.

Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first.

Playing Candide can be fun. It is less fun for those who put their faith in this approach.

“The interrogator said he saw Craig’s wedding ring (left hand) then was caught when Craig said he used only his right. The cop balked and said he may have changed the ring to his right, then stood his ground saying he could have crossed across his body to reach. A lawyers wet dream. The transcript is full of bullying into a confession/plea.”

Obviously - you are about the ONLY ONE who ACTULLY read the transcript of the “confession!!!”

The cop was caught in a lie by the Sen. when he said he saw the Sen. pick up the paper with his LEFT hand with the wedding ring on it -

When in acutallity - the cop was in the RIGHT stall!!

That meant that Craig had to reach with his LEFT hand across his body while sitting down and be able to pick the tp paper! Kind of hard to do in a small stall!

THAT’S when the cop began to adjust his story!

READ IT, FOLKS - BEFORE you judge!!

Actually most wouldn't beleive him, and would wonder what was in it for him.

Why? Because we have no concern for truth in our politics. Because we are playing parlor games. Who can write the best ad? Who can raise the most money? Who can phrase a response the smoothest? And truth be damned. Slick promoters only need apply. And should truth actually show up, no one would able to recognize it.

What are your ultimate purposes if you are only playing the political game? Do you have some guiding principle or is it just playing to win?

Yes, it does. He was engaged in actions that a reasonable person would have felt threatened or disturbed by.

Some guy peeping in your stall again and again, then bumping your foot with their foot, and passing their hands under your stall wall are actually things that most people would find disturbing. If he had done it in the ladies’ room, I would have called the cops.

He admitted in his guilty plea that he engaged in actions that would alarm or disturb people. That is what the second charge is all about.

Dude, don’t be dumb. Craig, even if he smokes pole, could have beat this with both hands tied behind his back and then foisted it off successfully as a hypothesized liberal dirty trick.

Instead, he was a FREAKIN’ MORON and plead guilty to it. Not to mention allowing himself to get in that position anyway. How long do you think it would have been until some enterprising, D Lever pulling, gay person set him up???

As far as the dems “picking up an easy seat”, in Idaho? Get real.

Ironically, while everyone calls Craig a hypocrite, he is, if actually gay, a model senator because he has actually voted his constituents desires rather than his personal preferences...
