In Ohio, the Columbus Public School system, (CPS), has a very bad reputation. One has only to speak the name of the organization, and chills roll down parents' backs.
But, unlike what many at Freerepublic would think, the overwhelmingly Democratic-controlled city council has taken bold measures to address the problem.
Study groups were formed, months were invested, dollars were spent.
In a bold move sure to create ripples nationwide- the group moved to correct the problem of the odious reputation associated with CPS.
They have today announced that they have changed their name... to Columbus City Schools.
What tremors this creates in the industry will simply have to be dealt with.
Oh... and they also created a logo.
Well, heck, they had to... after all- their graduates can't read well, and it will serve as a mnemonic, so that they can recognize the source of their abilities in life.
My organization spent a couple of million to get a consultant to write a mission statement.
A turd by any other name, is still something not to step in.
Do people really still send their children to public schools???? Scary.
They sound just like Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.
I'm impressed.
I hope that someone was promoted as a result of this bold decision.

Or Cleveland schools, which thankfully I never went to.
Mine did. Fortunately I graduated with my brain cells and sanity still intact.
Where I live in Union County, the Charlotte ‘burbs, we don’t have this high-concept stuff ... just ordinary waste, fraud, abuse, bribery, and corruption. Oh, and falling test scores!
I’ve been meaning to write to the Western Union weekly paper and suggest that they give a few million dollars of the schools’ budget to the library system, which serves the public much better!
So, in effect, their solution is to deceive the sheeple. How unique.
Back in the 90’s, the Portland received some well deserved bad publicity when 2 city workers were caught on tape taking a nap in their city vehicle on city time. The City responded boldly...with a new logo and motto for all their vehicles. All done in one night with tons of overtime.
Sounds like most city systems. I went to a suburban system which wasn’t bad, but I was only in public schools for K-5 and the first few days of 6th, and that was years ago.
A high school in my neighborhood remodeled an existing gym into a two story building containing classrooms. When it was finished they proceeded to build a brand new gym right next to it.
I’m sure that was with a consultant who was an “expert”...you know what the definition of an “expert” is...someone seven miles outside of town carrying a briefcase.
Big city school systems, like other aspects of government, are generally run by Democrats. I used to think Republicans, who run everything here in Union, were less corrupt than Democrats, but now I know better. However, they do seem to be more competent!

That may be true. And it seems like Republicans are less likely to be just plain nutty. They're understandable money-grubbers, not moonbats.
