Thompson's Announcement?(4:30PM ET Today)
humanevents.com ^ | 08/30/2007 | Jed Babbin

Former Tennessee Senator Fred Dalton Thompson may be announcing his presidential candidacy formally at 4:30 pm EDT today. A reliable source close to Thompson's advisors told HUMAN EVENTS that today would be the actual announcement, not the announcement-of-the-announcement rumored earlier.

Thompson's move may have been accelerated by the August 29 editorial in the Manchester, NH Union Leader that said Thompson's failure to participate in the scheduled September 5 debate would be a snub to New Hampshirites.

Whatever motivated Thompson, the September 5 debate - with him in it - would be much more important than it would otherwise have been.

He’ll declare September 6th -— a day after the next Republican debate.

I can’t quite explain it, but I’m not real comfortable with this.

Drudge Report is saying he’s going to announce on Leno. Gosh I hope not...anyone IMHO who announces their candidacy for the President of the United States on Leno is just no different than any of these other bozo candidates. The job is too serious, the office is too serious to be treating it so light-heartedly on the late night entertainment circuit. I expect a whole heck of a lot more out of our presidential candidates-—WHOLE LOT MORE! This is too serious of a matter any more to have it turned into late-night musings for the likes of Leno, Letterman, etc.

That’s very disappointing. Fred needed to be in New Hampshire next week.

Without him setting the record straight, I can not trust him and throw my support behind him.

We'll wave as we go by.

How hard is it for you to understand FCC "Equal-time' rules regarding Law&Order?

Never worked a campaign before, have you.

47 U.S.C. § 315.

(a) Equal opportunities requirement; censorship prohibition; allowance of station use; news appearances exception; public interest; public issues discussion opportunities

If any licensee shall permit any person who is a legally qualified candidate for any public office to use a broadcasting station, he shall afford equal opportunities to all other such candidates for that office in the use of such broadcasting station: Provided, That such licensee shall have no power of censorship over the material broadcast under the provisions of this section. No obligation is imposed under this subsection upon any licensee to allow the use of its station by any such candidate.

In that position in the syntax you want the adjectival form: stagnative.

Isn't the adjective form "stagnant"?

(We might as well settle this while we're waiting for Fred to make a decision.)
