Deported Mexican migrant mom asks Mexican president to return to US as peace ambassador

MEXICO CITY: The recently deported illegal migrant and activist who took refuge in a Chicago church for a year, has asked the Mexico's president to appoint her "peace and justice" ambassador so she can return to the United States.

Elvira Arellano, 32, who sought refuge to avoid being separated from her U.S.-born, 8-year-old son, was arrested and sent back to Mexico on Aug. 19 after traveling to Los Angeles to attend a rally for the overhaul of U.S. immigration laws. Her son stayed in the United States.

"What I'm asking for is a diplomatic visa so that I can be an ambassador for peace and justice because I'm not a terrorist and the United States can't continue treating undocumented migrants as terrorists," Arellano told reporters after meeting with President Felipe Calderon at the presidential residence, Los Pinos.

In a news release, the president's office said Arellano asked the Mexican government to help her get a visa so she can enter the United States but it did not mention Arellano's request for a diplomatic appointment.

Calderon asked Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa to "look into the situation that Mrs. Arellano and her son face and to approach U.S. authorities so that we can respond to (her) request," it said.

I thought the woman was just dumb, but it appears she’s downright unhinged.

All embassadors have to be approved by us, she doesn’t get in unless we let her.

It is unfathomable that this ordinary law-breaker gets an audience with the President of her country, just by being a high-profle criminal.

We are truly living in a “cult of personality” era.

Has it been established that the child is hers? The word of a criminal like her is not enough.

It will be interesting to see if the Mexican government feels strong enough to ratchet up this discussion by giving her a diplomatic visa. Our next move in that chess match would be to halt the issuing of any kind of visas whatsoever to anyone from Mexico, including student visas. Then we would see whether the Mexican government was more interested in Elvira, or the continuing ability of the children of its elite to study in the United States. That’s assuming our government has the backbone to actually retaliate.

I am getting sick of Mexico’s whining and demanding and our politicians either running scared of that country or being bought off by it.

I found this on Answers.com:

"In the event that a nation refuses to admit a diplomat from a foreign nation or demands his or her recall, the diplomat's government must either comply or break off relations."

This woman is doing wonderful things and she should be encouraged to keep it up. I can’t imagine a better way to keep the public’s attention focused on the illegal immigration problem and promote a growing backlash against the illegals and those who support them.

“A normal mother would not have left her own child behind.”

What part of ‘deport’ don’t you get? It’s not like she had a choice.

This is why nutjobs like Cindy Sheehan are so damaging. She’s the model for this ‘peace ambassador’ crap.

...In a news release, the president's office said Arellano asked the Mexican government to help her get a visa so she can enter the United States...

Surely the President's office knows that the Mexican government cannot "help her to get a visa."

Under U.S. federal law a deported alien may not be admitted to the United States for 5 years after deportation. Entry by a previously deported alien within 5 years of deportation is a criminal offense subject to a maximum imprisonment term of 2 years. Entry by a previously deported alien with a criminal history including a drug offense is a criminal offense subject to a maximum term of 10 years. Entry by a previously deported alien with a criminal history including an aggravated felony is a criminal offense subject to a maximum term of 20 years.

Posted in Illegal Aliens & Immigration Reforms on August 26th, 2007 by MorningStar

[snip]

There is no doubt that Elvira Arellano was a criminal, her continued unauthorized presence in a country from which she had previously been deported in 1997 defines her status as a criminal. Her use of fraudulent Social Security documents as well as her failure to report to the Chicago immigration authorities as she promised to do when she was initially released to care for her son, further substantiate her criminal intent to violate the laws of the United States.

The unauthorized re-entry of a previously deported illegal alien is a felony punishable by a maximum of 10 years imprisonment (8 USCS 1326 (b).) and Elvira Arellano’s presence in the U.S. after her previous 1997 deportation is a matter of record.

When she was apprehended in Chicago in 2002, she was working as a janitor at O’Hare International Airport under a false Social Security number which she supplied during the hiring process. She was convicted of working under a false Social Security number.

The false representation of a Social Security account number with intent to deceive for any purpose is a felony under the provisions of 42 U.S.C. § 408(a)(7)(B). A conviction for Social Security Fraud carries a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000.

Instead of deporting her immediately, the Chicago immigration authorities allowed her to be released on her written promise to turn herself in to the immigration authorities in August 2006. She subsequently failed to keep this promise and evaded apprehension by hiding out in the Adalberto United Methodist Church, a storefront operation on Chicago’s West Side that offered her “sanctuary.”

That’s an easy one. We severe diplomatic ties with Mexico and boot all of their diplomats.
Mexico has already launched an invasion of our country. It’s just that too many people are too stupid to realize it.

Attention Deficit Disorder? OMG I think Bill Clinton could be the father.
