Fred Thompson's new campaign manager, Bill Lacy, forces out communications director Linda Rozett and suddenly we have a date for Fred's announcement:

Sources tell numerous outlets that Thompson will announce his campaign September 4th, and that he will participate in his first debate on September 27 at Morgan State University in Baltimore. His first major appearance at a GOP event will be at the Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference in Michigan around a week earlier.

I have never been so proud to support a candidate.

You wrote,.....”BTW, it’s not the Romney, Huckabee, Hunter, or even Rudy supporters on here who are mean-spirited, slanderous and nasty. It’s Fred’s supporters.”

Get a good dose of reality when you read responses..it would be more healthy for you than indulging in your fantasy world.

Whoever you are backing (if you are backing anyone) is really hard-up for supporters.

Thanks for the info.

Anyway I was looking at Romney as possible my second choice as President if and only if Thompson flames out. Oh well, he's off my list now with all that tap dancing he did in that video.

In Romney’s case it’s “And another one goes to jail.”

News items:

“Sen. Larry Craig, the Idaho Republican who pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, has stepped down from his role as a co-Senate liaison for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s White House bid, the campaign said Monday.”

“Jay Garrity, who had been on leave from his position as the Romney campaign’s director of operations since earlier impersonation allegations surfaced, stepped down Friday following a report in The Boston Herald in which unidentified people accused him of distributing badges to members of the advance team to gain early access to event venues, control crowds and reporters and avoid paying a highway toll.”

“Mitt Romney’s campaign has announced the resignation of its national finance committee co-chairman, Alan B. Fabian, who was indicted by a Maryland grand jury on 23 counts, including mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury and obstruction of justice, according to the Baltimore U.S. attorney’s office.”

Certainly calls Romney’s judgement into question...

Boy, I don’t know. It was revealed at one point that she gave money to Planned Barrenhood.

Mitt sure can pick ‘em...

I haven't issued a single opinion on the current crop of candidates yet (that I recall). Still observing. Your point here is important though. Makes one a bit fearful of what an administration would look like! Seems Mitt has some "vetting" issues. Think about judicial appointments, etc.

I don’t know, that first big red post on this thread doesn’t do much to convince me that you are correct.

He appointed more non-Republicans than Republicans to the bench in Massachusetts, including at least one radical gay activist that I know of. Same with executive positions in his administration.

The record ain't pretty.

Could be. I can tell you one thing for sure. I don’t want any more Republican Democrats elected.

Your first reply on this thread is an aspersion cast about Fred Thompson's supporters here...how about you getting in the game and telling the board what you like or don't like about the candidate?

And what is this "Rudy Julie Annie" nonsense?

"And as much as I can’t stand Rudy Julie Annie, he’s stood in the face of much adversity..."

????

Your sentiments are incoherent. Your statement can be likened to the following:

"As much as I can't stand The Hildebeast, she is owed respect for something-or-other"

"As much as I can't stand John Effing Kerry, he should be recognized as having had an impact on something at some time"

"As much as I can't stand Al "The Moron" Gore, he has been through a lot of personal problems and has always prevailed"

One does not slur someone with a pejorative nickname and then laud the person sincerely. It shows the poster to be a phony.

You're a phony, sir! Now what's your point?

Okay, folks, just tighten your seat belts, sit back, and enjoy the ride.

It's going to be an interesting fourteen months.

How long has it been since we've had a presidential campaign that is this heated, just for the party nominations?
