“Do not post to me”

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.

1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.

Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.

Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. Conservative FReepers would not.

Well, I don’t think I’ve ever asked anyone not to post to me again. I had one rather prolific evolution proponent (a lot of people can guess who) tell me that he was putting me on ignore, or something like that. He ended up getting banned. I’m still not sure what for, as I was away from FR and the internet at the time due to hospitalization.

I try to be on my best behavior. Most of the time.

Eventually FR needs to do something with these folks who spread defeatism all over the place.

That's really our job. We as a collective, have to stand up to the disrupter's and show them for what they are. We do that, initially, by countering their points with facts and reasoned discourse. If they persist, we then ignore them.

The millions you speak of, if they have half a brain, can come to the conclusion that they are trolls, disrupter's, whatever.

Eventually, they will fade away on their own. If not, and they are true @$$holes, then the mods ban them.

Free and open communication and discussion of ideas, especially political ones, have always had this problem and always will.

I guess it’s kinda’ like a dog thing. The first person tries to make as smelly a mess (Post) as he can and then virtually walks around it sniffing.

If it stinks enough, the other one will reply with one just as smelly. Each walking around sniffing their post and then the other’s.

And so it continues until one grows weary and wanders off.

Then again a person can be just sucked in and about 10 posts later reality hits him and he goes “What have I done?”
