“Do not post to me”

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.
1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.
Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.
Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. Conservative FReepers would not.

It’s over three thousand miles, so driving isn’t an option this time around. I’d eat up my vacation time in driving hours! It’d kinda be nice, though!
To: RosieCotton
Yep...that’s a long haul. But if you had the time...
I know how fast vacation time can be used up! Be sure to tell us how much fun you had!

Back when I was a mewling puking newb, I had several older signups do a depth run plus torpedo attack because I did a newb mistake.

Mom, I haven’t, yet. I think I’ll wait for Spring, and see where I am. I was going to try and get a place of my own, but regardless, I will get the roses in the Spring.
I have the info you directed me to.

I really didn’t want to be flamed, so I lurked. Then I got brave and almost got squished! (Which is why I mostly stay here.)

I, stupidly, jumped right in.
I used to be in the thick of the raucous threads, but I got tired of it after awhile.

I got into a “religious” brou-ha-ha once, and came away shaking my head, asking myself some blunt questions:
1. Why did I let him bait me?
2. How can he claim to be Christian and be such a nasty butthead?
3. How does he expect to get people to see his viewpoint when he is so rabid?
4. Why on earth did I think I had anything to contribute, there?
5. What was I THINKING?
That’s the last time I went to a “religion” forum! And I lurked quite a while after that, too. I was licking my wounds.

Yeah, tell me about it.
I stay away from that part of the forum.

Thats the last time I went to a religion forum! The Religion Forum can be a nasty place. I tried to keep the Anglican threads calm, and we have had some interesting and educational discussions between the Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants there, without all the yelling.

I was on the Charlie Daniels Band thread a couple of weeks ago, and the discussion was crevo. It was actually quite mild compared to the ones I’ve seen on FR.
Even in disagreement, no one was frothing at the mouth.
I enjoy religious discussions, as long as they remain discussions. When they degrade into arguments, it’s my cue to leave.

Yup.
Just heard a Fred Thompson clip on a talk show program this hour. I haven't paid much attention to the races because it's still way too early, but he sounded good. As the host said, not a(nother) Ronald Reagan but if he is as good as he sounds, he'll be at least an equal.

For me, it’s Fred and Mitt Romney. In that order. I’m going to start sending some money to Fred’s campaign.... Maybe some to Romney’s.
Anything to keep the Dims out. Hitlery and Osama? Not a good deal in MY book! Osama talks down the the Dims. Hitlery talks testosterone. Neither one is worthy of feeding my pigs....(if I had pigs.)

Fred looks good at the moment. Even my non-political snuggly bear likes him.
One issue that I wish that someone would bring up is that we need a larger military and more bases. Currently we have all our eggs in a very few baskets and that is not a good idea.

One issue that I wish that someone would bring up is that we need a larger military and more bases. I agree completely. We need to reinstitute the Draft, and every young man and woman should serve two years in the military. Period. Nixon did us no favors when he abolished the draft, and Clinton did us tangible damage with his closing bases and relying on electronic spying, instead of human intelligence.
But don't get me started!
