Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

I'm still waiting for you to give me a coherent explanation as to why the "constitutionality" of a declaration of war mattered to Paul regarding Iraq, but didn't matter to him regarding Afghanistan.

We knew the terrorists had their base in Afghanistan. This after we just got hit. I think Paul or anyone else didn't have time to engage in Constitutional semantics. Still, he wanted the President to ask for a declaration of war.

You tell me why didn't the President just ask for a full declaration of war from Congress against Middle Eastern terrorism to begin with, and he could have engaged in all the nation-building in Iraq he wanted.

Ron Paul is actually a bigger phony and a bigger fool than the other cut-n-runners; he blames America and not the terrorists. He’s actually scum.

Good find, although I never for a minute believed them to be conservatives.

Paul said “GET OUT NOW” when asked about Iraq....he doesn’t need any spin on that. It is CUT & RUN, same as when a DUmocrat says it.

And Bush & company said "Let's keep building playgrounds and schools and let the media demonize our troops and let our troops get prosecuted over BS allegations. I'll just stand here with my usual befuddled Bush look." FIGHT A FRIGGIN' WAR OR DON'T FIGHT ONE

Nice try, but anyone who supports cut and run in the middle of a war is less than a serious candidate.

The American people DO NOT support a long-term committment in Iraq. THEY DO NOT - I don't care how you spin or call it "cutting and running" - Spending billions on war and spending the same billions on socialist domestic policies is going to totally bankrupt this nation. You are not going to convince people that it is in our best interest to stay in Iraq for decades and keep trying to kill terrorists as if our military was a big can of Raid.

Saddam is dead. Al-Zarqarwi is dead. Bin laden and the one-eye terrorist are likely dead or sitting in some cave dying. Iraq had their elections. We should be out of the Middle East by the end of the decade.

Hey, we were told Bush was conservative too. Now I know who those here to "do jobs Americans won't do" really are:

What does that have to do with the current debate? Your statements and pic is a total non-sequitur. Is that you in the pic, BTW? The illegal on the right?

“The American people DO NOT support a long-term committment”...

Where’s that CUT & RUN plan for Germany, Japan, South Korea?

We’re STILL there after 60 years, and will have bases in Iraq for years to come. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality.

Ron Paul cosying up to MoveOn.org strikes me as being as nasty as Larry Craig making goo-goo eyes at an undercover cop in an airport bathroom. Both stories make me look around to see where the barf bag is.

These are not the sort of people who belong in public office.

Different circumstances. The nations you cite were already civilized in the civilization context. They weren't backward ass people who lived caves and blew themselves up if someone drew a cartoon about them.

We’re STILL there after 60 years, and will have bases in Iraq for years to come. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn’t have a firm grasp on reality.

We don't have the money. Folks are not going to support a long-term, open-ended Middle Eastern committment. I'm telling you now. That's why Paul enjoys the support he has now.

And I’m sure many of them do worry about martians.

We don't even worry about the Trolls living under the bridges on the information superhighway.

Ron Paul was on Medved’s radio show today. As usual, he was carrying al Qaeda water and telling how we should retreat and get out of their way in the Middle East. Basically, if al Qaeda wants it, Ron Paul is okay with that. People like him cannot be trusted with power.

I never assume that the whole world sees things the way that FreeRepublic does. People here are better read, more intelligent, more thoughtful, more conservative, and more active in politics than your average American. And the American averages are, generally, better than those of most other nations.

He is not "cozying up" to anyone. If you'd kept pace with the thread you'd know that Paul has no control over activities outside of his official campaign.

Give me a break. You're the last FReeper who should be making a knee-jerk statement.

You’re the troll with a name like GWB and constant support for an al Qaeda propagandist. At least during WWII the isolationist didn’t stay soft on the Nazis. You guys can’t bring an yourselves to have a manly backbone. So don’t call me a troll, weenie.

He is not, RM. You are tearing down a devout Christian who has dedicated his life to defending the Constitution.

These Paul fights are saddening me to the point that I may have to take a few weeks off from FR in the near future.

I’m not buying that excuse. He still has his personal info up there — name, location, age, school etc. The only thing he’s changed is his political history — and the embarrassing plan to troll for votes at Moveon.org. His bio used to say he voted for Kerry, then jumped around from libertarian, to democrat, etc. Now, suddenly, he changes it is all aboard for Ron Paul!

Nevertheless, the screencaps are still available on this thread via my Photobucket account. And you're free to point those things out. This thread, now no longer in Breaking News, has attracted the vast majority of viewers that can be expected here on a late August "news" thread.

Look, a lot of people flop around a bit between parties and causes when they get into politics. We have a lot of former Libertarians here, many many former liberal Democrats, etc. I can just imagine the kinds of political opinions a "soccermom" might have held when she was 21 like Karsten is. And yet, he does articulate a good small-government, liberty, sound-economy agenda. He is, in fact, delightfully typical of our younger RP supporters, excited by a message that we once heard from Ronald Reagan and Newt Gingrich and from the great Austrian economists.

Certainly, we have Libertarians and Dims in our midst as a minority among RP supporters along with many single-issue voters of so many different kinds I could never describe them all. But our message is a classic conservative Republican message of liberty and small-government. Exactly as Kirsten and his Meetup comrade, theoreticalgirl, have shown in their posts here.
