Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

Logical. But in politics and religion, logic is sometimes lost .

I was put in this position when my son went to Iraq .

Here I was pulled between the position of mother and patriot . I was suppose to leave all common sense questions at the military gates .

Questions like ; why not go to the source of the world terrorism, like Saudi Arabia who finances it; why were most of the 911 terrorist Saudis; why was our borders still wide open when we knew without a doubt that terrorist were crossing them ;why were we silent when clintons were killing Christians and turning over the Balkans to radical islam ; why did a REPUBLICAN congress vote for this action ?

I voted for republicans last two elections and was lied to ,it will take a hell of a good liar to fool me again .

Everyone knows that Ron Paul supporters come from the political spectrum. Notice the event says “Invade moveon.org’s anti-war rally with Ron Paul signs”? What’s wrong with winning over supporters or spreading Paul’s core belief (non-intervention) to new people? I think jealousy has a lot to do with this post. Ron Paul supporters from 29 states took to the streets yesterday to walk in support of their candidate. More than 70 people in LA walked for 10 miles.Know anyone doing that for Duncan Hunter, or any other candidate for that matter? Ron Paul is not your parents’ Republican. He’s a true REPUBLICAN.

I’m one of the people going to that event. Yes, we’re bringing Ron Paul’s message to the rally with signs and flyers. Ron Paul supporters are not insulated and small-minded. We want to End the War, just like people from moveon. It’s just that Ron Paul’s postition of non-interventionism and bringing troops back home from around the world is a much better one. He is the true anti-war candidate.

I am not pushing Giuliani, I said I like Fred. I also said the Republican primary will most likely end up between those two.
That is an opinion, but I am probably right.

McClintock was and is limited. Couldn’t win Lt. Gov. after all that suppossed GREAT self publicity staying too long in the Governor’s race.

Arnold was just what I always said he was, that he was socially more liberal, but far more conservative than Bustamante the failed butcher.
The two nice things about Arnold was he did focus on bringing business back to California and he also kept his word regarding trying to blow up government boxes instead of getting along.
The CA voters let Arnold down and the Unions won.

McClintock got all his publicity, but has proved to have very limited electability.

Don’t think I have been inaccurate anywhere and like most here I want the most electable conservative to be in place to challenge Democrats.

There is nothing gained by having an unelectable conservative icon in a major race for power.

I see a lot of self righteous egos on threads among third party types. I crave to read more common sense though in politics by them.
Just my opinion by the way... :-)
Good morning to you!

I do know this much, though -- it was pure Hollywood Anti-Calvinism for the Screenwriter to pretend that General Arturias was a follower of the Free-Will-ArchHeretic Pelagius, when in fact the Augustine-Pelagius Free Will-Predestination controversy had already been settled, in Augustine's favor, at least eighty years before the Action of the Story; and what is more, the fact is that Pelagius was hardly beloved in Roman Britain; all accounts indicate that he fled to Rome to find a greater audience for his Free-Will Theories, BECAUSE the Roman Christians of Britain were so resolutely committed to Absolute Predestination that they did not WANT a Heretic preaching "Free Will" in their domain.

(Basically, they transferred their allegiance from Odin to Yahweh, but retained their belief in Absolute Predestination:

Amen, OP! Great and accurate history lesson. The story of King Arthur is completely predestinarian, whether idiot Hollywood gets it or not. Arthur was destined to be king; he didn't will it so.

(Still, I did enjoy "Excaliber.")

"The All-Father wove the skein of your life a long time ago.

Go and hide in a hole if you wish... but you won't live one instant longer.

Your Fate is fixed. Fear profits a man... nothing." ~~ Herger the Joyous, The Thirteenth Warrior)

Now THAT was a GREAT MOVIE! Michael Crichton at his best.

Ahmed Ibn Fahdlan: "Have we anything resembling a plan?"

Herger the Joyous: "Mm-hm. Ride till we find them... and kill them all!"

An Ann Coulter-prequel. 8~)

Hunter won’t make it.
Fred might make it and his view is he is against abortion, but feel it is a not Federal issue that should be going to the individual states.
Rudy isn’t very good in that area.

If (god forbid) we get Rudy against a Hillary, do you think you really do yourself proud by sitting a vote out or voting third party when that would give rise to the Presidency of Hillary?
Are you willing to enable Hillary? I am not.

Ron Paul Campaign does not control support activities from the meetup groups. Decentralization, remember? Oh, just a conservative concept that Republicans have long forgoten. After all, President Paul will run a country with people with diverse views. What’s wrong with having more people who support you?

Right. They all declared ‘war’. Not some wishy washy political hot potato ‘use of force’ authorization.

IMHO - Duncan Hunter is the REAL peace candidate.. PEACE THROUGH STRENGHTH -- NOT DEFEAT

You are not alone by a long shot. I intend to spread Rep. Hunter's excellent character and qualities - political and otherwise - everywhere I possibly can. This country needs this man at the helm. NEEDS!!!

>The line I always hear about RP is he has principals. Will he eschew the support of this group?<

I am not a RP supporter, but I think he has principles. However, he definitely should distance himself from the Moveon crowd. They are using him for their own nefarious purposes.

We want to End the War, just like people from moveon.

Glad you cleared that up.  I guess we have the ANSWER for the original poster of this thread.

I would prefer not to be supported by such a cowardly bunch.

Sounds like you worked for a Police Dept. Most of the time, thats where the politicians love to throw budget money.

The Police in my town just purchased 2 new Dodge Chargers and 1 new Ford SUV. Was it needed? No. The Crown Vics they had looked great and were doing just fine for their patrol functions. The speed limit in the town is 35mph.. there was no need for chargers. Like you said, it was probably either a federal grant sitting in the bank or some unspent town funding that needed to be spent. They probably could have used the 150k or so that they spend on the cars and put it into road repair.. or bette yet, give tax cuts! As you said, in civil service, that just does not happen.

It's a tired cliche, but in this instance it's actually true: There really isn't any difference between the Republican and Democrat in that race. It literally would make no difference if Hillary won, if all we would have to counter her, is Rudy. Rudy's usefulness would have been in him winning the NY Senate seat in 2000. I don't blame him for dropping out of the race because of his illness, but that doesn't mean he should be PRESIDENT now.

Which is why this primary race is so important. Anyone but Rudy is pretty much my motto at this exact point in time (August 27th, 2007).

Or Ron Paul. While he's clearly different than Hillary politically, there is no way I'd vote for him either, as a vote for him would be a vote against the WOT. Why vote for a man that can't judge character well, vis a vis his constant spots on the Alex Jones radio show? I want a president that thinks it's ok to associate with 9/11 "truthers"? Yeah right.
