I agree though now with advance of modern medicine many of them are being operated on and the heart condition that many died of in later life is to some degree being fixed.

This I can see will lead to some now out living their parents and that is why the house next door to me other such places are now very important.

The homosexual argument that “no one would consciously chose a gay lifestyle” is ridiculous. People willingly chose all kinds of destructive lifestyles, including alcoholics, dopefiends, prostitutes, and criminals. I doubt if there is a criminal gene or one for prostitution. However, the New Testament accounts for this phenomenon, it is based in the sinful nature of humanity.

I think they are more appropriately termed “death lovers.” The purveyors of the Culture of Death hide their pagan thrill of killing behind a mask of phony compassion. Hence, Kervorkian is the perfect poster child for these neo-pagan lovers of death.

Good point, but I like the “Eaters” part because of the (figurative) cannibalism of support for embryonic research, cloning for replacement parts, and so on.

My cousin isn’t necessarily downs but has extra stuff on the 23rd chromosome and is bi-polar. Wait, I’m doing the math. He’s 45. Wow. He lives with some other mentally disabled adults, has worked for at least 20 years for Walmart (I love that company) and drives. His parents are gone but he has two great older sisters who keep an eye on him.

See my post 46. Disability is a blessing IMHO. My husband and I raised two special needs children and we didn’t even know it. One is bi-polar but it didn’t manifest itself fully until he was in his late 20s and then a light bulb went on. Oh... that’s why he (fill in the blank). Our other child is special. We adopted her at 3 1/2. She had been physically abused and her birth mother may have used drugs when she was in the womb. She’s one of my heros. They both are. and I have learned so much from both of them. God bless the broken road.

That seemed to be the implication to me. It's insane, isn't it?

Some people adopt special-needs children. Others devote themselves to caring for handicapped adults. Everyone I know who has given birth to, adopted, or worked with the handicapped considers it a blessing to have the opportunity to assist these people.

I would never presume to make the parents’ decision for them, that’s what liberals do; however in a perfect world I would have them know before deciding that a million taxpayer dollars to attend to their child full time through age 21 are not going to happen.
