The President and the first lady are continuing their vacation in Crawford Texas.

Today it was announced by the White House that Jenna Bush became engaged yesterday to her long term boy friend Henry Hager.

This week the Vice President's wife Lynne Cheney turned 66 today I have put together a few of my thoughts about this remarkable women, including an impassioned statement from her during the 2004 campaign and some photos of her through the years.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island

In Barbara Bush’s day she was a real looker as Jenna is today. Jenna came from excellent genes. I hope Jenna or her twin Barbara are blessed with that wonderful straight forward type personality that their grandmother Barbara and their Father, George have. Looks change...but that intelligent personality stays...

I’d like to hear more about Mr. Hager.

He's 26, from Richmond VA, his Dad is John Hager, who used to be Lt. Gov. of VA and is now head of the Republican Party there.

And what if you're a boring brunette with a few grey hairs who refuses to color? No hope for me...

Heh. Every time I go to get my hair cut, the stylist always ask if I'd like to color my hair. I tell her the same thing every time; I earned every one of these, so I'll keep them, thank you very much! And who says we 'heaven frosted' brunettes have to be boring, anyway?

Rejoice that you are not the object of blonde jokes at holiday gatherings! A policeman stopped me and when I rolled down the window he said “ a blonde, It figures” :):)

When I got my first grey, hubby said, “You’re not going to dye your hair, are you?” I reminded him that I’m lucky I remember to cut it twice a year and no, I’m not dying anything!

Wikipedia says the dad contracted polio at about the same time one of his sons was innoculated for polio. Dad went to Purdue University.

Indeed she is and has quite a resume which I suspect many people are not aware of.

Although she is a successful women in her own right she has shown that since her husband became VP she has no need to be competitive and only gets controversial in support of him. This to me shows that she is comfortable in her own skin and understands and values her husband and his position.

This photo IMHO shows her appreciation and also her love of her husband of 43 come the end of this month

I had a FReeper tell me about Lynne Cheney. I think it was during the election cycle of 2000. Lynne Cheney is why her husband is who he is today. She has guided him in I’d say a miraculous way. She definitely had it together long before he did. If I remember correctly when he flunked out of that ivy league college...she laid the law down to him...she was going to move on without him...so Dick went back to college and the rest is history.
