I’m going to make a bold prediction. I know it’s still early, but I do not see any scenario in which the Democratic candidate can win. The diving stock and credit markets will probably help Republicans, and especially Giuliani and Romney, both of whom are rightfully seen as well-versed in domestic economic/financial matters. For most people, hanging on to their homes is a more urgent priority than getting free (or any) health insurance. And most can also figure out that any attempt by Hillary or another Democrat President to set up a nationalized healthcare system is a very long-term proposition.
