Just reported on FOX News TV
>>Merv, let us know when the interview with Sinatra is going on, and try and send down a copy...<<
That is so perfect!
Maybe he would be so kind as to include his interviews with Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop, Sammy Davis, Jr., too!
Thank you for posting that.
RIP, Merv.
Farewell to a legend...
Sad news. I think he was actually a good friend of the Reagan’s. I always remember as a kid watching the Merv Griffin Show in the afternoon. Those were the days.
Gone but not forgotten - another grand old original with class.
Almost every picture I ever saw of Merv Griffin showed him smiling. For a man who lived 82 years, I think that speaks volumes. Godspeed.
Yes you are . . . and so was Merv. (!)
No typo will escape a Freeper.
It saddens me to see another piece of my childhood pass away...

I do remember when Merv serve as honorary pallbearer for President Reagan funeral until then I didn’t know he was that close to Ronnie and Nancy what I hear Nancy and Merv has same birthday
One of the good guys..Thank you, Starwise.
May he rest in peace.
RIP. In addition to the highly entertaining Jeopardy, he was a friend to the Reagans as I recall. I’m young enough that I didn’t even know he’d been a singer until somewhat recently.
Then when I was a teenager, My parents had gone bowling and I got a phone call from my Mom, "Come down here now! Merv Griffin is bowling on the lane next to us!". Drove there, and sure enough, there was Merv. (This was a BIG deal for little "Saratoga, CA" at the time.) But Merv & my dad were chatting away calmly like old friends (who'd never met before). Yet apparently over the next half an hour that "bowling alley phone" must have been very busy because lots of people started showing up to watch him and Merv started getting a little nervous. Will never forget my dad noticing Merv's nervousness and saying, "Relax, Merv. You are home here. They are just showing up to see their hometown boy who made good!" Merv said, Yes Sam, but I am really not that good of a bowler to have all these people watching!" And they both laughed. Merv was really nice. That moment was the first time in my life that it dawned on me that celebrities or other important people were just like the rest of us -- they get nervous, too. They worry just as much about what to say and how to behave with fans, as fans do when in their presence.
Thanks, Merv, for teaching me a valuable lesson! RIP to a great guy, we'll miss you!

don’t forget Mrs Miller in the audience too
“Christmas City” will not sound the same
RIP Merv
I feel bad. I remember Merv Griffin, but had thought he had died a while ago.
R.I.P. Merv. You always put a smile on my face.
Has he got children and grand-children? He leaves a really, really, really big estate.
“In a tape of a previous interview, today on FNC, Merv said no one ever knew if he was a Republican or Democrat.”

Total class act. Republican and one of the nicest men anyone could ever meet. RIP Merv. We are rapidly losing a generation that was so filled with class that the word “class” will only be known 20 yrs from now as something you go to in school.
