FReepers, a guy named Cajun Mike joined us to tell us about a brave young Marine named Chris LeBleu. We gave him our prayers and loads of messages.
HERE IS THE ORIGINAL THREAD.
Things were looking good, and Chris was on his way to recovery. A contractor gave his family a home in Texas. Now, we get very sad news from Cajun Mike. Let's all say our prayers for Chris and his family.
FROM CAJUN MIKE:
To: doug from upland Doug, this is very hard for me to write. My family and I went on vacation with the Lamendola family - including Chris & Melany - just 3 weeks ago and had a great time.
Chris is now in Methodist Hospital (critical care unit) in Houston, and is suffering from multiple, major complications. The doctors have told the family to gather together. Chris mom (Susan) and her sister (Debi) are here in Houston already, and Eric is on his way. I dont know of any details as of yet - my wife and I are going to the hospital in a few hours.
We need prayers, and lots of them. Ill keep you and everyone else posted as I know more information. This isnt looking good...

My wife and I went to the hospital last night and were able to visit with Chris for a little while, along with the family (Melany, Eric & Susan and Susan’s two sisters and her mom). I wish I could be more encouraging - and I know that miracles do happen - but things just don't look too good right now. Chris is very swollen and very jaundiced. He seems to be in a good deal of pain, and Melany says that they aren't giving him a high enough dose of medication because he has a very high tolerance of it (i.e., it takes a lot of medication to really take effect). Basically (if I understand correctly, and I'm always afraid of stating something that isn't accurate), his body is rejecting the liver and there are other complications. Eric said that there are two anti-rejection drugs that doctors would consider for Chris, and the one they're giving him just isn't doing the job right now, and they can't give him the other type because it causes kidney damage and his kidneys are only functioning at about 25% right now. He has some type of bacterial infection (they're giving him antibiotics), but the real problem is that he also has pneumonia - and the doctors are saying that the pneumonia is getting worse instead of better. Chris told us last night that yesterday they drained between 4 & 5 liters of fluid from around his lungs and ribs. This, of course, was making it very difficult for him to breath. As of last night, though, he was able to get enough oxygen by just using a mask. I'm not sure if/when they might put him on a ventilator. Kathy (my wife) just got of the phone with Eric a little while ago and he told her that he just gave this news to Melany (understandably, she's very devastated), and that he was getting ready to tell Chris. The doctor told him to have the family gather today, and no later than tomorrow. I'm not sure what that means - either that's how long they think he'll be coherent or if that's how long they think he can last.
To: Cajun Mike
Oh Lord, please rescue Chris from the brink of death and restore him to complete health, that he may serve You and that You may receive all the glory and honor. In the Name of Jesus, make haste to help him. Amen.

Around 1:15 am CDT, Monday 8/13/07, corporal Christopher LeBleu lost the battle for his life that he fought so valiantly at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. He was surrounded by his lovely wife Melany, his parents, his brother, other family and friends. There was always a Marine presence during his hospital stay, and even a Marine flag up in his room (even in ICU).
Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon he was transfered from ICU to a private room to better accommodate the constant contingent of people (usually between 15 and 30) there to visit with him and to keep him company. Over the weekend he had many of his Marine brothers and sisters that he served with in 37 in Iraq come from all over the country to spend time with Chris, including his former company commander who has since been promoted and now works in the Pentagon, and the former company sargent in charge of PR that assisted Melany and family during their time in Loma Linda. She was on her way from D.C. back to Twentynine Palms where she will be working as a contractor to the USMC. I can’t begin to describe what a wonderful group of people and friends these present and former Marines have been for Chris & Melany and their entire family.
There will be a Marine stationed with both Chris and Melany (24 hrs. a day) until the funeral. I also understand that a group of motorcycle riders from the Beaumont area have volunteered to ride escort with Chris from Houston to Lake Charles, LA (his hometown) where he will be buried. I do not know yet any details of when the funeral will be. Arrangements will be handled by Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. I will post that information later today when I find out the details.
You guys (Freepers) are the best. You have been there with Chris & Melany and their family and friends from the beginning. Your thoughts and prayers during this entire ordeal have meant more that you could possibly know. There are some amazing prayers that were offered up on this thread as well as the original thread. We now know that Chris is in God’s loving care, and that God had a different plan for Chris. God bless you all, and I thank you - and Chris’ family thanks you - from the bottom of my heart.

This will have us crying, Mike. It doesn’t seem fair, and we don’t understand it when the Lord takes someone good way too early. Our hearts and prayers are with those who were closest to him.
