'Hundreds' cancel trips, homeowner threatens to move out
Telluride: Some of the ski fans who have patronized Telluride, Colo., now are calling the ritzy resort "the land of radical liberals" and canceling planned vacations there because the town board voted to approve an ordinance calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
One ski club of 175 people already has made plans to go elsewhere, another skier has threatened to sell his home there and another critic predicted the town soon would bow to Mecca.
"It's huge, unbelievable," said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. "Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) website is flooded with people saying they're canceling their vacations here."
The storm of protest followed the town board's recent vote on the impeachment issue, according to a report in the Denver Post.

LOL! Hell NO!
It's just that Freepers seem to forget that the recent national elections for President were awfully close...with Clinton winning with just 43% of the popular vote.
IOW, there's a lot of yellow-bellied liberals out there that ski!
Nevertheless, even the Catskills doesn't get the powder that you do out west. A big problem from Stowe down to the Smokeys is that what little powder you get turns to ice by the end of the day.
Excellent.
When conservatives learn to use their $’s as votes of affirmation or condemnation, liberal’s will shut their mouths or the doors on their left wing businesses.
How much of the loss in $’s for the MSM is due to conservatives saying, “I will not watch your phoney tv news nor buy your lying left wing Fish Wraps!”?
South Park nailed it:
ROBERT REDFORD
This is perfect. Why didn’t we think
of it sooner? This town still has some
charm left, not the mess we turned Park
City into.
PHYLLIS
Forgive me for being observant, but,
won’t we just end up doing the same
thing to this town?
ROBERT REDFORD
Yes. And the town after, and the town
after that. Like termites, we will move
this film festival from town to town
until we have used it up. And then move
on, until every quiet mountain town
is like Los Angeles.
PHYLLIS
Why? Why would we do such a thing?
ROBERT REDFORD
Because we have to live in L.A. And
if we can’t live in quiet, simple, peaceful
mountain towns, then nobody will! Waitwaitwait.
Zoom in to a close-up of my face when
I do that. Ready? Then NOBODY will!
That’s it.
Hah! That is absolutely hilarious!
Add to list of places I’ll never spend a red cent in:
Telluride, Colorado
unless they do a 180 in their politics!
Kids 1st?
Count me in there too. I’m sick of this kids first crap. That’s the reason the spoiled lazy little brats are worthless today.
“I hope they go broke.”
Hold your horses. If they go broke, they’ll be applying for federal disaster aid....they’ll still find a way to blame it on Bush...global warming caused them to lose their minds...didn’t know what they were voting on.
Do you think so? I haven’t read any demographic studies in recent years, but I’ve always had the impression that the upper middle to upper class (outside of Hollywood types) trended Republican, primarily on the issues of taxes.
The Dixie Chick example, I think, might back that up a little. Their last album did sell around 2 million copies, but around 20 concert dates were canceled due to poor ticket sales. I use this to suggest that while a liberal will shell out $12 to support their favorite liberal rabble-rouser, they are much less likely to spend $45+ and a couple hours of their time.
I wonder if the same backlash would occur if the Breckenridge (Colorado) City Council passed a resolution proclaiming widespread support for President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
“”In a country where a July poll found as many as 46 percent of Americans favor impeachment... “
Has anyone heard of such a poll? Was this poll taken only in Telluride? Only at DNC headquarters?
It’s easier to ski with ice skates in NC.
You got that right. The ones that hitchike there and are on welfare back home.
Incidentally, what is their welfare system like? They're gonna need it.
That explains a few things...
“but we will find places without an agenda!!!”
Monarch and/or Wolf Creek.
I would love to see Oprah or one of those liberal elitists take a shot at the Plunge or the Spiral Stairs.
May I translate that?
I have a Constitutional right to do stupid things, and you're thoughtless enough to attach consequences to it!
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!
Ah, but if you can stay up on skis in NC you can stay up anywhere!
Loveland Ski Area is hands down the best in Colorado -— and one of the cheapest too!
Telluride has had awful snow the past few years + expensive tickets + attitude = NO THANKS!
