The New York City Council, which drew national headlines when it passed a symbolic citywide ban earlier this year on the use of the so-called n-word, has turned its linguistic (and legislative) lance toward a different slur: bitch. The term is hateful and deeply sexist, said Councilwoman Darlene Mealy of Brooklyn, who has introduced a measure against the word, saying it creates a paradigm of shame and indignity for all women. But conversations over the last week indicate that the b-word (as it is referred to in the legislation) enjoys a surprisingly strong currency and even some defenders among many New Yorkers. And Ms. Mealy admitted that the citys political ruling class can be guilty of its use. As she circulated her proposal, she said, even council members are saying that they use it to their wives.

Wow. So what would the NAACP and the people of Brooklyn do if they had a bunch of black dogs running around?
Sweet Erotion must be the most recent release of that song by Kim Jong Il.

“I Second That Emotion” is a 1967 hit single by The Miracles for the Tamla (Motown) label. The song was the group’s first Top 5 hit on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart credited to “Smokey Robinson & the Miracles” (as the group had been credited on their albums since 1965).
The song finds lead singer Smokey Robinson courting a girl who, weary of the game of love, prefers to string her men along and not get romantically involved. Robinson “wants no part” in such a relationship, but promises that if the girl changes her mind, he’ll be around (”If you feel like lovin’ me/if you’ve got the notion/I second that emotion.”)
Robinson got the idea for the song from his friend and Motown colleague Al Cleveland, who mispronounced the phrase “I second that motion” as “I second that emotion” while the pair were Christmas shopping in late 1966. “I Second That Emotion” was a #1 hit on the Billboard Black Singles Chart, and reached #4 on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart, and was a million- selling hit for The Miracles.
Today, the song, used to anchor the release of the Miracles’ Greatest Hits, Vol. 2 release, is one of the most familiar tunes recorded by the Miracles. A 1968 joint cover by Motown labelmates Diana Ross & the Supremes and The Temptations was a Top 20 hit in the United Kingdom, and later covers by Jerry Garcia and Japan were also popular hits. Michael McDonald has also covered the song on his compilation of Motown classics.
Fie! Fie! Brian, you are right when you say that you realize you would be crucified. Little gets by the dead-eyes around here! Welcome...
(chuckle)
Nice piece of trivia.........
Looks like you beat me to the punch.......drat!
OReilly was right, you all are a hate group. You hate the spelling impaired. :)
I realized my mistake about a nano second after I posted it, and figured I would be crucified in no time. Forgive me, it was my first time posting an article.
Brian
Nobody is worse at spelling in this forum than I am. And it gets pointed out routinely.
Don’t let it bother you. Just take the opportunity to note, as I do, you are a victim of the public school system and keep on posting.
It may even make next years FRLore!........
(FAIR WARNING - this video contains excessive use of the B-word, with a few F-words thrown in for good measure.)
Says a lot about their city council, then, don't it?
