Carl Rove recently told a group of Republican congressmen that they lost the majority because of the corruption more than the Iraq war. (i.e. Cunningham and Foley.
IF in fact this is the case, you would have to imagine the Dems would be all over this weeks raid of Senator Steven's home and linking it with Republicans.
However, earily, this was not the case. Maybe more is known about this story and its impending affects on the Democrats.
Also, my hope it would be Schumer. To modify a quote from one of the biggest jerks to ever roam Washington, "I want to see Shumer Frog-marched out of the Rayburn Senate Building"

How much did the Kennedy mob connections hurt them? Well, there was Dallas.

I doubt you would be shocked if the guy is Obama. This would be right in line with Clinton politics. Not that Obama wouldn’t deserve outing if he was “mobbed up” but the timing and the messenger would stink of Clintonistas.

Actually, Spitzer gets my mobbed up vote.

Harry Reid is the natural choice but I'll go on a limb and suggest Obama. The purity of a former Illinois legislator has never been questioned, nor even mentioned. The coup de grace against a Hillary annoyance. Probably not Obama. The Chicago mob wouldn't trust a black politician to do anything. I think you're more likely right on Reid. Nevada. Vegas. Mob. Politics. They all go together.
On the other hand, who are the leading Dem politicians from New Jersey these days? After Tony Soprano got wacked, the mob may need all the political juice they can muster.

I can’t believe David Corn would go after a dim. I remember him from the Clinton years. One disgusting dim lackey.
If he is going after a dim, my guess it is a candidate. Who’s his pick for pres? Hillary?
If that’s the case I pick O’Bama.

Spitzer was my first thought, too. Have a feeling that investigating his present scandal led to bigger and better things.

Reid was quite conciliatory in his comments about the FBI raid on Stevens’ house. Asking us not to jump to any conclusions. I thought that was odd. I expected Reid to be all over that one.

Moldea wrote a book about the death of Vincent Foster. Moldea thinks Vincent Foster killed himself. Sounds like a Clintonista. Makes it more likely that the target is Obama

Dan Moldea is a slimy character; he’s the former right-hand man of Larry Flynt. I’d scrutinize the evidence closely before lending credence to his story, even if the story is against someone I don’t like.

Frankly, it could be damned near any of them. Or any R for that matter. The mob has infiltrated deeply into every aspect of American society far more than most of us realize.
