Clinton slams "arrogance" of US Iraq strategy (Kerry at her side as co-sponsor of contingency bill)

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton Thursday warned that a US withdrawal from Iraq must not duplicate the "arrogance and incompetence" she said marred the 2003 invasion.

Senator Clinton was joined by defeated 2004 Democratic nominee Senator John Kerry to introduce a bill requiring the Pentagon to keep Congress informed about contingency planning to safely withdraw 160,000 US troops.

"We must not redeploy out of Iraq with the same combination of arrogance and incompetence with which the Bush administration exhibited deploying into Iraq," Clinton told reporters.

"We did not have a smart plan to go in, but we will do everything in our power to be sure we have a smart plan to get out."

Clinton wrote the legislation after a spat with the Pentagon over planning for troop withdrawals, which saw a senior civilian defense official accuse her of aiding enemy propaganda.

"Withdrawing troops from Iraq will be dangerous and difficult," Clinton said.

"We must oversee the Bush administration, as the Constitution demands, and four years of mistakes and mismanagement in Iraq require."

Kerry, who co-sponsored the bill said poor planning by the Bush administration had cost US lives.

"This administration has made planning a dirty word," he said.

Clinton said her clash with the Pentagon was directly responsible for a secret briefing on draw down planning by the Defense under secretary Eric Edelman to the Senate Armed services committee on Thursday.

In July, Edelman rebuked Clinton after she asked how and if the US military was working out how it could extricate US soldiers and supplies from Iraq.

"Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda," Edelman wrote to Clinton, prompting her to slam his "outrageous" position.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates last week attempted to smooth over the row, saying he was actively involved for an eventual draw down of US troops.

But in a television appearance this week, Vice President Dick Cheney praised Edelman's letter, prompting Clinton, senator for New York, to write in turn to Bush.

What a whiner she is. "Dear Pres. Bush: Boohoo, everyone's picking on poor little me. Make them stop." Love the picture - she looks a little like she's about to blast someone with her ray gun. Kerry looks like he's asleep. Or maybe dead. Hard to tell.

Planning a war. She really seems to think that going to war is like hosting a damned WH dinner. Is she really this stupid? Has she no sense of the history of war fighting and the continuous miscalculations that take place?

Hillery is attemting the Democrap end run to look "presidential". What a jugless wonder.

Imagine their presumptuousness. Two witless wonders who would be "king:" President Clinton and new Secretary of State John (Commie) Kerry?

Oh it is to laugh.......and hard!

“We must oversee the Bush administration”.

(Hears the sound of secret documents being stuffed into NSA’s underwear).

Who needs overseeing?

I’m no military strategist or historian, but someone once said that your war plan lasts until the first shot is fired. (Maybe it was Gen. Tommy Franks - I read his autobiography, and found it fascinating.) It’s all a matter of strategy, revised strategy, adaptation, calculation, and learning from conditions on the ground. If even I, a mere civilian, can understand that, Hillary is incredibly stupid if she thinks she can “plan” a war. I think she’s pandering to her moonbatty base, as usual.

Now there’s a pair of lemon sucking liberals! Gee Hillary tell your buddy Kerry to smile more often! It would appear that you look the most sourpuss when you talk about George Bush! It wasn’t because your sidekick lost the last election to him or the fact that you will follow in his footsteps in the next one is it?...L.O.L.

Yeah, we should have left a man in power that had/was...

- Attacked three different nations during his tenure, occupying one of them, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Israel
- Responsible for the deaths of around 1 million of his own countrymen
- Responsible for the deaths of about 500,000 Iranians
- Responsible for the deaths of an unknown number of Kuwaitis
- Attacked the Kurds with chemical weapons
- Facilitated death squads that roamed the nation torturing, maiming and killing Iraqis at will
- Prevented the female populace from getting an education
- Limited from going above and below certain points on the map to keep him from killing his own citizens
- Refused to allow inspectors free pass to carry out their mission to make sure he wasn’t making WMDs
- Shot at our aircraft patrolling the no-fly zones on nearly a daily basis
- Congregated troops around the dead zones and on some occasions actually had them cross the line
- Paid families of Homicide Bombers in Israel $25k
- Publicly stated he would do anything he could to destroy the US

Yeah Hillary, it’s nice to know how in tune you were with this pariah’s actions.

Let me ask this question: What's easier to plan, a war or an economy?

Progressives, a term self-applied by Hellary, and, of course, really meaning Marxists, believe they can centrally plan an economy with its millions and millions of moving parts. By comparison, to them, a war is trivial to plan.
