When it comes to noble Cats of intriguing hues
At the top of the list should be the British Blue
Not just because our fur always rates a second glance

Humans love to feel our fur if given half a chance
Though it may look dense and thick, it is really rather lush
Made for cooler and wetter climates, our shorter coat is plush

Made to keep us warm and dry when it decides to rain
Our outside coat pulls away the wet and helps us to sustain
Our ability to keep fields and gardens free of unwanted intruders

While we will politely step aside for Our Pretty Ones' handsome suitors
Or blithely leap up into Our Big One's relaxed and outstretched lap
Savoring fingers on our fur before settling down for a Nap
