Radio Exec Sparks Fury With Possible Racist Remarks

Cox Radio Possible Racist Remarks Spark Fury:

It wasn’t tough enough for Judy Collins and Sam Moore, two famous and popular singers, to testify in front of a Congressional committee on Tuesday about the need for a performance royalty on radio stations. (Singers on hit records aren’t paid when a record is played on the radio; only the writers are.)

Now Robert Neil, the head of Cox Radio, which owns 80 stations in 18 markets, has infuriated them with what some consider to be racist remarks regarding their right to earn a living. And R&B legend Moore, for one, is demanding that he be fired.

Neil said: "I saw the (congressional) testimony yesterday, and the reality is a lot of those people would be sitting in a shack somewhere in a small town if it wasn't for the fact that radio supported their music when it was coming up.”

Moore is furious. He feels the term “those people” is pejorative. At first he wanted an apology. Now he wants Neil's head. Cox Radio owns R&B stations and oldies stations that Moore says have made their money from black artists for 40 years.

“...those people...” wouldn’t by chance be referring to artistic types, ie. none-business types? Nah, lets make race an issue instead! ;-/ Who is the real racist here?

I love people who don’t look for racial offense at every turn.

I’m still getting used to Lesley Gore being gay. Now Judy Collins is black?
I have to start writing things down.

It seems the word “people” has become a racist slur now.

I thought he was being nasty, elitist and condescending to artists in general, not to one race.

Judy Collins

I thought that name was familiar, but I was thinking of a white singer.

and Sam Moore

Never heard of him. I googled Sam.Moore and turned up a furniture company that makes chairs. The picture on the site looked like a white guy. http://www.sammoore.com/SamMoore.htm

Elvis and Springsteen are black? I didn’t know that.

Sam Moore was the Sam in Sam and Dave as in the song, Hold On, I'm Coming, written by Steve Cropper and Isaac Hayes at Stax Studio on McClemore Ave. in Memphis. I don't understand it but there is a woman I personally know and support that is living on welfare that sang backup on these and many other songs...she gets nothing for her repeated performances and was paid a penance for her work.

Kentucky Rain, Suspicious Minds, Little Less Conversation, Rubbernecking, In the Ghetto, all by Elvis...there were many more.

When a Man Loves a Woman..Percy Sledge
Cry Like A BabyThe Box Tops
Half Breed by Cher
The Concert For Bangladesh..various artists (Clapton, Harrison et al)
Leedo Shuffle
She also backed up Albert King, Al Green, Cowboy Clement, and many others. Amazing that she is living in poverty nowadays.

Your typical leftwingtard is of the false belief that "those people" is a reference that always means "race".

That's because they do not understand how language works.

Sometimes "those people" means "the people who are the topic of this discussion".

Oh, yeah, one more thing ~ the leftwingards are too mentally burned out to be able to think more than two steps ahead. So they hear the words "those people", think "race", and leap to the conclusion "that means me".

All of this proves that modern drug treatment programs don't work.
