That's because they do not understand how language works.

Sometimes "those people" means "the people who are the topic of this discussion".

Oh, yeah, one more thing ~ the leftwingards are too mentally burned out to be able to think more than two steps ahead. So they hear the words "those people", think "race", and leap to the conclusion "that means me".
