Burmese pythons are particularly popular for about $40 wholesale or just under $100 in a pet store, at about the size of a ruler. You feed a little one mice, and then rats, and then as it continues to grow in size and appetite, you offer up chickens and rabbits, the experts say.
You watch your snakeling graduate in about three years to a length of 10 or 12 feet, or longer. Ultimately it can reach 20 feet, and the heavyweights tip the scales at about 300 pounds, and live to about 25 years. Their defacatory production is renowned.
And while you're raising your young python, plan on accommodating its living needs, which make a teenager's look mild. At first, you can put it in a cage. Then you can put it in a very big cage. And finally, you'd just better give it an entire room, or the guest wing of your home. And if you get tired of feeding it four or five big rabbits at a time, go ahead and provide a small pig (or maybe an unruly child or, well, you get the picture).
Burmese pythons are breeding like rabbits.
Some wildlife biologists estimate their numbers in the park now at about 5,000, most of them wild-born offspring of animals from the pet trade either purposely released or escaped from owners after major storms...
"We had laws to control lions, tigers and poisonous snakes, the class one animals, but we didn't have a category to take care of invasive species - pythons, monitor lizards and iguanas, invasive rats down in the keys - things that are and can be super destructive to Florida's environment," ...
Just how destructive is anybody's guess.
"The devastating effect of the python is probably on the bird populations, young nesting birds,"

People who don’t kill their limit of deer every season and allow feral cats to live have a screw loose too.
How the hell can a snake be unstable?
The arrogance of ignorance on this thread is disgusting.
There may be a topic on which you are informed. Please go find it and leave snakes to the adults.
I have a min-pin that has not been fixed.
If I give you my address will you please come by the compound and give it a go?
Friday would be good as both my kids will be home and I could use this as a teaching tool.
I’m calm as the newly fallen snow. It’s a great day, thanks and good morning to you. Is it all good in da hood, chillin’ wit a 40 an’ da chronic wit’ a gat ready to cap a silly nigga?
No need to cuss there big guy, leave the mature discourse to us adults and take a break or timeout as you prefer.
If you can’t speak (type) without the ebonic-ridden racism, then please take yourself someplace else. Be calm and go in peace.
Answer the question ace.
If you have $ for rattlesnake boots, maybe I shouldn’t have chased them away by pouring kerosine around where I work. They slithered away gagging. With their tongues out for air. Have a problem with coyotes? Piss in a cup and spread it around where you are for a few times. They don’t go after animals bigger than they are.
What was the question?
Put them on the menu and offer a bounty..
“I think people should not be allowed to have things like this”.
I killed a bull snake yesterday. After dropping a large rock on his head and dousing him with cold water I blew him in half with my 12 Gage.
It makes my day if I can run over a snake while driving. I try to avoid hitting all other animals.
I am getting pretty good at blowing snakes apart with my 12 Ga. I can’t recall if the over or under barrel fires first, but I aim both barrels in line just below the head so that whichever barrel fires I still end up with severed snake.
Usually parts of the snake go flying up into the air and I have a creepy fear that a piece of the evil critter will fly back at me and land on me. I even hate worms for looking like snakes. You won’t catch me wearing or eating any snake.
I once skinned a couple of snakes. It was creepy. Hours after shoveling off their heads I threw them in a sink full of hot water to clean them and they thrashed about like mad. The Damn things are possessed.
In India, the cobra is both feared and revered, because it kills and eats an animal that has killed a million times more people than snakes ever have: the rat. Rats don't have the scary characteristics a snake employs, but there toll on humanity has been devastating even in to the 21st century. It is natural for us to fear animals that can kill us by poisoning or constriction, but to wantonly slaughter snakes because we don't like them is naive and dangerous.
Racism, tupac?
