So far O'Reilly has been saved the pain of having to make a profound and deep apology to those of us at FreeRepublic by the collapse of the Minneapolis interstate highway bridge.

Anyone know if it was terrorist related yet?

I think that's pretty much an approximation of an O'Reilly type spin ~ hope he gets the message.

It is now almost 20 hours since your little tantrum.

Do you have some links to back up your assertions, or are you going to come clean and admit that you’re all just PMS and Cuervo [I’d say “piss and vinegar”, but that might offfend you]??

Do you think he’ll apologize for this or bring it up on a program?

Dunno. The bridge collapse took him out yesterday, we'll see what today brings. I sent off a couple emails, one before the links were available and one after. Suspect he got a deluge.

It will be interesting, whichever way it goes. I don't think he can run away, FR has way too much clout for that to happen.

Simply put, Bender is in favor of treating citizens as guilty until proven innocent, as are ALL others who support pre-sale identity checking for firearms. You may be one of those two, and I’ll say the same to you.

I am of the opinion of Thomas Jefferson, who once said, “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” The bent one continues to misstate his argument. No surprise.

He casts himself an independent so that he can take the most self serving position possible on any given issue, which would be impossible if her called himself a conservative or lib.

He has no grounding philosophy except what’s good for BOR.

Wow. My personal feeling is that if you are going to make unfounded remarks about FReepers, then you had better post links of examples from this “large number of people” which you are calling “extremely hateful.”

Looking forward to seeing your *cough-cough* (excuse me...) list.

“No, Fox News Channel owes FR an apology. He and his staff are employees of FNC. FNC condones such behavior. “

I myself wouldn’t paint all Fox News with the same brush as seemingly Bill O’Reilly has painted FreeRepublic.

Tony Snow was an employee of Fox for many years and in my humble opinion Brit Hume is the most honest and intelligent voice in news there has ever been in the history of TV news.

I don’t think many FReepers would paint them with that brush?

Assassination jokes have no place on Free Republic

What assassination joke? That was a satire on a Dystopian future.

Granted, the bullet bit wasn't funny, and added nothing to an otherwise cogent and amusing picture of life on the other side of the Rodham Event Horizon, but there's no need for all this handwringing.

“Most extreme posts are probably trolls anyway.”

They’re almost certainly being planted by Kossacks in their anti-Fox campaign. The left has long and distinguished history of Internet sock-puppetry.

I think that’s what stirred all this stuff up about FR.
There’s absolutely no comparison to Daily Kos,of course, and to try to draw any similarity between the two is like equating apples and porcupines. I watch O’Reilly almost every night and there are times when he’s out of line.He was not fair to Kristinn as far as I am concerned.I listened to that segment of the show, and I was like, WTH???
Absolutely dead-on wrong,Mr.O’Reilly. Kristinn handled himself well with BOR,and that’s not easy. Ask Geraldo. LOL

Please post examples of that you bemoan.

I notice your “born on” date was last month. How do you know how this site operates?

Maybe the “I hate Blacks” comment is really on DU or KOS. I have never seen anything like that here on FR and I have been here since 2000.

“A woman called in claiming Bill was not attacking “right wing” hate sites and when he asked for specifics, she named FreeRepublic.”

BOR should know better than to do the bidding of left wingers. That’s lightweight behavior.

I myself wouldn’t paint all Fox News with the same brush as seemingly Bill O’Reilly has painted FreeRepublic.

You've picked out Snow and Hume - probably the only two positive things about the channel (I'm not a Hannity fan, but I'll admit he's not as bad as O'Reilly). In the end, Fox is in it for the money, and in the evening you are going to hear more about Paris Hilton or whatever attractive female went missing or whatever celebrity is currently screwed up than you will hear about much more important things (the wars we are in, etc.).

Maybe I'm weird, but I just never saw the appeal of those types of shows. I've asked fans of the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity and Colmes, when they say "did you watch last night's show, this or that liberal activist was on, and O'Reilly or Hannity tore them a new one", I ask them what they learned. Usually they give me a "huh?" response. Me, if I'm going to watch something that's basically non-fiction, I'm going to learn why I don't want to be an ostrich farmer, or why noodling reaffirms my beliefs about Oklahoma, or what's being found as some battlefield is being excavated or that we don't give our ancestors enough credit, etc. I'm not going to waste my time on idiotic talking heads on Fox or wherever.

All they did was watch the political equivalent of a daytime talk show. Instead of 12 year old daughters wearing too much makeup and too short of a skirt having their moms criticized by Dr. Phil, they heard some nutty liberal being criticized by Hannity or O'Reilly.

They serve their purpose - people who are insecure in their beliefs like to see people who believe differently being criticized by others.

The majority of FReepers are probably not like that - I think most of us are secure in our beliefs and are mature enough not to feel threatened, that we don't spend every night glued to FNC. I would bet that FReepers don't watch much FNC, etc. in the evening. We're probably more apt to be watching the Discovery, History, Military, History International, Science, etc. channels (or movies or Sci-Fi). I have a friend who is a FReeper, who could probably tell you the Military Channel's lineup in the evening for the next few weeks. They are like me, they find a Napolean or George Patton or Rommel much more interesting than some blow-hard like O'Reilly ripping into somebody.

” “The actual quote is ‘Homosexuals are the modern day dogs in the manger.’”

Can’t understand why this comment is objectionable. Are we supposed to stop using commonly-used metaphors simply becasue O’Really and his posse at FNC can’t understand English? “
