That’s a frightening picture of Ted Turner. Dead, piggy little eyes, and teeth the color of aged maple. Yecch.
An official from the district where the Taliban kidnapped 23 Korean Christian volunteers nearly two weeks ago was initially quoted by Reuters news service as saying that the operation had started. But Reuters later withdrew the story, saying "the Kabul datelined story .... is wrong. The official cited in the story did not make the comment reported." Officials here also refuted the report, saying the Afghan government would not take any military action without Seoul's consent.
"We have not sanctioned such a rescue operation. We have not been informed of such an action either," Foreign Ministry spokesman Lee Youn-soo said.
So it appears that Reuters was responsible for the false report.
I forgot to include the link to Yonhap -

Any of these networks that puts out this type of treasonous activity...during a time of war...should go black...
Nah, they are not alone....
“Am I the only one who thinks this report will probably get these hostages killed?”
Newspeople are completely stupid about military operations. I’m reminded of a series on Ethics by the Annenburg Foundation back in the late 70s. One of the questions posed to the newspeople was this. You become aware that there will be an invasion in four hours. Do you report this? The reporters said they would. When questioned about causing casualties, they said if the military thought this to be the case, then the military could stop the operation and avoid the casualties. They seemed totally unaware that troops, pathfinders rangers would already be on the beaches. When told this, they said that they would report the invasion.
japanese news yomiuri now saying that taliban released a statement that they are now going to execute FOUR more hostages from Korea....
I hear ya...
June 5th 1944, CNN has learned that the Allies will invade Normandy tomorrow morning.
I'm afraid you are correct.
That’s what it sounds like to me too.
Amen. We should also definitely NOT make any deals to get the hostages released. For one thing, it would only make it open season on ALL aid workers everywhere. But mostly, as you said, they walked into the lions den, they have no right to complain when they get ate.
