I'm not going to call Bill O'Reilly a liar... yet, but... on his TV show today, he read off a laundry list of ridiculous "hate" statements like "I hate blacks," "Hillary should be assassinated" and "homosexuals are dogs" that he said he personally found on Free Republic and claims that they were posted here today. I do not believe that. I doubt that he personally logged on to FR and I doubt he found any such thing posted here today.
Who knows what we may have missed and is buried deep in our archives of millions of posts, but our readers do a pretty good job of alerting us to anything out of bounds that is posted and we pull it. Also, one of our readers found a couple of the quotes he alleges, and if they are the ones O'Reilly is complaining about, he took them way out of context. They were simply quotes in the articles posted not statements posted by FReepers.
As soon as he provides me a list of the alleged posts and their URLs, I'll believe him. If he doesn't... then... well, guess he'll deserve to be known as what he is.
To use Bill OReallys own example from 2 nights ago: So what? Even Mussolini made the trains run on time. Is this supposed to make Mussolini a reddemable character? (paraphrase).
Just noting he did a great job, caught a bunch of hell over it, and didn’t back down.
I thought it was a drive by hit job last night, just to be clear. And I’ve sent an email asking that he provide documentation to support his assertions and the absurd comparision to the midget at dailykos and that insane forum.

i’ll be looking for your’s!
This has probably all been said, but this little war with FR was started last week on BOR radio program. He was calling out some liberal website about the hate that was allowed to stay posted on it, when a caller asked him to look at conservative websites. When he said he never sees stuff like this on conservative websites, she (caller) cited Free Republic. So during the commercial break he had his staff look at some FR posts. At that time, nothing could be found offensive, but he said they’d monitor it the next few days.
BOR is wrong wrong wrong. The FR volunteer moderators are efficient, quick and don’t hesitate to delete an offensive post. He seems to believe that having career moderators will ... what?
I have been posting here for over 8 years.
I do recall an instance, after I first joined in 1999, a pro-KKK reply. I immediately notified the moderators, the offensive post was deleted, and the poster was banned...all within a period of about 2-3 minutes.
Needless to say, I was impressed with the responsiveness of the volunteer moderator, and I have felt safe to remain a Freeper since. This site is far far cleaner than other much smaller sites.
Great line - you need to forward it to his viewer's comments site.
However, my nomination for 'most ridiculous' is his clueless body language lady with; "Ooh, you were mad.." (or whatever).
Bill O’Reillys comments were shocking ...I mean he couldn’t possibly talking about here...!!
He didn’t do the research himself and relied on his staff to find those so called comments by FReepers.
If he had done the research himself he might have seen that the so called comments were all in articles posted here for discussions.
BOR owes you and all of us and apology.
Keep up the good work.

You said it so much better than me....!
Uh, my comment was directed at the media-gov’t-bureacracy not Fred.
I wrote a “pithy” response to BOR asking if he were now employing some of Dan Rather’s old staff. He’s waaaaaay off the mark on tis one. But I lost respect for him over the SwiftBoat thing, and his lame excuses for John Kerry and Dan Rather because he personally knows them.

I’ve heard Bill admit on more than one occasion, whether on his radio talk show or on television, that he doesn’t read websites like freerepublic or blogs. He relies on his staff for all his sourcing and fact checking. He’s openly admitted that he finds these type of mediums unworthy of serious attention. That doesn’t mean he hasn’t evolved over time and has changed his mind and now reads these websites. He very well could have. It seems that way from the recent stories on this subject. He also has admitted that his staff does all his research and he hails them as the best at what they do.
My point is, (and I’m not taking up for Bill,) his staff are the real brains behind the outfit. Bill just reads what is given to him. I’m sure this is nothing unusual. That’s not to say he’s not to be held ultimately responsible. It’s just that he’s probably clueless on many different levels when it comes to the internet and more specifically the Freerepublic.
Mornin’ tioga :))
I love your email. He really is a coward.
Guess you mean the anti-conservative dopes over at WideAwakes, who believe the liberal Giuliani is the right candidate for the GOP. They never supported conservatism when they were posting on FR. That would fit in with the prevailing attitude of many talking heads over at Fox News. Even Brit Hume has been doing his best to undermine FredT`s unofficial campaign in an effort to build up Rooty Toot. On Fox News Sunday, Hume said FredT`s organizational effort were "in shambles".
All the RudyBoosters fear Fred! LOL
Public Service Announcement:
Tickets for the Bill O’Reilly Roast, sponsored by the DailyKost and Democrats (who are) Underground, aka Clinton voters, are still available. Al Frankly will MC the event which costs $50 in advance or $100 at the door. All proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to the “Resurrect Err America” fund.
The roast will start with a social hour featuring Red Bull Ale and refried baloney finger sandwiches. The main course is to be carefully selected crow, slowly seared in a no spin rotisserie, and a side dish of half-baked beans. Dessert will be humble pie topped with Bill’s favorite I scream.
After dinner a humorous skit will be performed starring Bill Mar, as BOR, and Jean Giraffalo, as Andy Mack’s sis, featuring a duet rendition of the song “Mack The Wife”.
The evening will conclude with Alien Combs presenting Bill the ‘Bloviator OF The Year’ award in recognition of his attack directed at the Free Republic web site.
Yup! The first screenshot shows three threads as follows in order:
russian oil magnate forced to sell to putin loyalist, he says.
Times' Columnist: Laura Bush Resembles Deranged '24' First Lady & Evil Harry Potter Character
I did a quickie search on each thread and came up with nothing for 'blacks', and only common statements regarding 'Hillary'.
The second screenshot is from the body of a thread. The left portion of the screen is cut off, yet it appears to be the end of the original article, followed by the first three responses (that's a guess). The last sentence in the original article seems to read, in part "The General Assembly will pass the state's next two-year budget during the 2008 session". This is NOT from any of the threads linked above.
One further interesting point. The thread posting times displayed in the first screenshot are all PST times, whereas Bill O'Reilly is taped out of New York. If he indeed did the search as claimed, why this discrepancy? Hmmmmmmmmm!
Thoughts anyone??
