Hi Bill,
I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

I have often said, when meeting fellow FReepers...that if ANY Freeper posted a note saying they were in some town in the USA and needed some help...there would be half a dozen of us scurrying to get to him and help them out.
FReepers would put you up for the night and drive you to the car repair, the airport or whatever is needed to get you back home.
Sheesh, we pray on the Boards for the sick and those who pass on. We take in each other’s stray animals, pay for vet bills of people we’ve never seen.
We talk on the internet and meet in person just to go to a ball game, have a picnic or even go to the Inauguration of GWBush.
Yeah, we have some rough ones here and there but today is my anniversary on FR...July 1998!!

Good job but I find the whole premise of Free Republic having to prove it is NOT racist - to be offensive. I find this notion that conservative = racist to be offensive and factually unsupportable. This is a stereotype we should attack and not get on the defensive about.

Does O’Blowhard not have anything better to do with his time than pursue feuds and pick fights with people who don’t like him? I was watching him less and less several years ago, but his treatment of Patricia Roush and her daughters stuck in Fraudia Arabia a few years back sealed the deal for me. I haven’t paid any attention to him since except to mock him here when his name pops up.
Logic, reason, command of the facts, common sense and respect are human values that are universal.
I'd also point out that it's kinda hard for someone like me to be a "racist" on this site -- mainly because I have no idea about the race and/or ethnicity of most Freepers I meet here!

No, it's not about show biz, it's about Bill O'Reilly and how fair and balanced Bill is in his own mind. He thinks that he's so fair and balanced that he had to bash FreeRepublic to appease Lanny Davis. So now Bill can rest easy because he has bashed both a right and a left site. In other words Bill may be balanced, but not always fair.
O’Reilly, the seeker of ratings before truth - whats more, he constantly brags about his great ratings versus CNN, MSNBC and other cable channels.
