Yesterday I stopped in to a new Romanian deli that opened about 2 miles south of me. I spotted some double smoked bacon in their cold case. At $4.70 lb, I thought I'd take a chance... USDA o.k., the smell was heaven.
Slice me a pound sez me... after wrapping the shopkeeper said 'this is like cured ham, you don't need to cook it'.
But since I like crispy bacon I fried it up, nice and brown.
It was the most flavorful, tender bacon that ever passed my lips. I'll never buy name brand stuff again.
Now to take the leftover buttermilk mrs. steveo bought for some reason and make some from scratch blueberry pancakes with a side of my new favorite bacon.

“How are you and have you heard from your boy?”
I’m good, really tired but good. Got to talk to the boy Sunday nite for all of 5 minutes! And got his “form” letter from the Army yesterday in the mail! I can write him now but can’t send him anything other than letters or cards! That lets out me sending him anything for his birthday.
He’s already aggravated at the ones that won’t listen to instructions!
