I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.

Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.

We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.

I remember the day when he and Fox struggled to make it in this market of so called "fair and balanced." It was the conservative movement that made him. O’reilly, you owe F.R. an apology. Fox has had Fred Phelps family on spewing the trash that they spew. While it is usually called ‘hate speech’, Westboro hatemongers are still willingly given the air time by a major network. Why? Sensationalism. We get someone not representative of what goes on on this site to post garbage and suddenly we are the Reichstag news.

I did not see the segment. If you make it clear to him that he spoke out of context, or misrepresented FR, send him an e-mail that corrects him. Hopefully in the e-mail segment tomorrow he will apologize for his ignorance.

I think the mods should look for the exact comments BOR said he found, cause I bet they are old comments, and not something posted recently, and probably taken out of context.

As of now, the phrase I hate blacks is shown on 13 seperate occassions, by 13 different posters on this thread.

Make one wonder how accurate all his other stories are. And puts one in awe of the power of the media to shape beliefs.
Now many, many Amreicans, as a result of this 5 minute segement, have a perception of FR overall as a right-wing hate site. (Inspite of Krintinn valiant efforts)

Kristinn, you did a fine job. I was appalled at the comments that Bill O'Reilly cited from Free Republic. I don't by any means read every thread posted here, but I don't recall reading anything like that here. If this place were infested with racists and advocates of violence against gays or politicians or whomever, I'd never post here again.

As an aside, O'Reilly is not a bad guy, but neither is he quite what he wants us to see him as. He often comes across as a scold about matters of morality, but then asks Jenna Jameson for copies of some of her porn videos, and tries to engage an employee in sexual antics involving loofahs and other tools of questionable provenance. I guess he deserves a bit of pity, though, because now that he's got all of that money and fame, he can't use it to cut loose because of his perceived 'role model' status.

i have to give my testimony about the Report Abuse button.

Some idiot on here was saying a blatant lie about me (that I stole my own account) , so I hit Report Abuse and within 5 minutes the offending post was removed and the offender reprimanded.

So at least that night there was someone alert at the switch who acted quickly.

I think OR’s hit job was unwarranted.. he should have at least gave FR a chance to look into the comments and explain the circumstances of why they were there, for how long, and by whom etc... instead of just ambushing with it leaving the guest speechless (what can anyone say upon being confronted with a stupid statement like ‘i hate blacks’)

Before the 04 election I was a premium member on BOR’s site.

In an August 5, 2004 interview with Dick Morris, BOR equated the actions of the Swift Boat Vets with the political actions of radical left-wing groups such as MoveOn.Org.

I cancelled my membership immediately after that interview and was so mad I didn’t ask for a refund on the remaining months I had left on the contract.

I do not watch BOR anymore unless Michelle Malkin is hosting.
