Gore's son pleads guilty in drug case
By GILLIAN FLACCUS 6 minutes ago
Al Gore's son pleaded guilty Monday to possessing marijuana and other drugs, but a judge said the plea could be withdrawn and the charges dropped if he successfully completes a drug diversion program.
Authorities have said they found drugs in Al Gore III's car after the 24-year-old was pulled over on July 4 for going 100 mph in his Toyota Prius.
He pleaded guilty Monday to two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription, and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said.
Jaime Coulter, senior deputy district attorney, said Gore's sentencing will be continued until Feb. 7. If he has complied with all the conditions of the diversion program, the sentencing will be continued again for another year, with charges possibly being dropped in 2009.
"At that point, he will be able to withdraw his guilty plea as if he never entered it," Coulter said.
Deputies who pulled Gore over said they discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a variety of medications, including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Authorities said Gore did not have a prescription for any of those medications.
Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for speeding.

Paris Hilton, Linsday Lohan, and Nicole Ritchie shuld complain about the preferential treatment AG three sticks is getting..
Trash is trash, no matter how you look at it.
With all the recreational chemicals he's dealing, maybe he found some kind of amphetamine for the Prius...
Gee, I wonder why the MSM didnât have a hundred TV vans and cameras at his perp walk into and out of court? /s
Any court-ordered treatment for Al III should begin with some jail time and conclude with at least 12 months of residential treatment where the patient is confined, initially, 24 hours a day to a treatment facility and later to a live-in halfway house. He should undergo urinalysis weekly.
I am not defending this guy but in 1989, when he was about seven years old, he was in a near fatal car accident that put him in the hospital for months. He may well have developed an addiction to pain medication at that time.
Global Warming...It was just too gosh darn hot out there for the camera men and reporters.:)
A month in spa-hab, and he'll be back out on the streets loaded again. Sure that that neither I, nor anyone I love, is directly threatened by the soft judges out there in la-la land...
After fourteen years you would think dear ol' Daddy would have made sure he was weaned off them awful addictive drugs!
Was dear ol' Daddy or Mommy at the hearing today?
In a just world - he will be in a drunken/drug induced confrontation with an armed citizen who will shoot the bastard dead on the spot....
THAT is the only way to avoid a Gore Clone -—
The nation has already suffered too much and too long from the Kennedy clones...
Laws were written to punish these bastards and to protect the innocent bystander from these assholes... When the law looks the other way -- shit WILL happen...
I believe they were attending a conference on protecting the endangered Ringtailed Mugwump.
Chip off the old block, I’m sure.
How about saying it this way: BEFORE HE KILLS AN INNOCENT FAMILY OR himself. If he is out there drunk and on drugs and driving 100 mph I would prefer he be the one who loses ... NOT MINE or some other innocent family.
What's Al's excuse?
He is so wooden he must have a perpetual overdose of Viagra.
Al wanted to be a cigar store Indian but flunked the personality test.
Another brat that won’t pay the price.
