TELLURIDE A backlash quickly emerged after the Telluride Town Council adopted a resolution last week calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
Its huge, unbelievable, said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) Web site is flooded with people saying theyre canceling their vacations here.
Pryor called it a silly initiative. The council, he told The Telluride Watch, is too busy to weigh in on national global politics.
If this was a silly initiative, why did he vote for it? The answer would seem to lie in the fact that the council routinely adopts resolutions, on matters both big and small, with nary a further word. Further, such a resolution would be hardly controversial in Telluride, where only 17 percent of voters in the 2004 election cast ballots for Bush.

There must be something in the water in resort locations. People who choose to live there year round acquire a bad case of moonbattery.
You’re absolutely right. I have a liberal friend who said that “conservatives should just be drug into this century kicking and screaming”.
At least they are up to the third-grade reading level. They are showing progress!
let’s hope the a-hole lib/dem dopes fall on really hard economic times.....
then they can do what the a-hole lib/dem dopes do best....raise taxes in the city!!!!!
maybe then ...they might realize who needs impeachment!!!
Hey, I snowboard, and I didn't vote for Kerry.
Liberals never seem to grasp the meaning of the word consequences. They have the right to say stupid stuff and people have the right to cancel vacations to their goof ball city.
Worse, why do they think their opinions should have no consequences?
Good for those people who had different opinions and cancelled their trips.
Whats wrong with that, Mr. Pryor?
Having spent time in the mountains on vacations in the past, I learned that they (mountains) are quite extensive.
Therefore on my next visit west Telluride will be avoided, the “Air America” of cities.
BS BS BS BS!
The town’s business may be way way off, but THIS makes it BUSH’S FAULT!
How convenient.
“They don’t; that’s the whole point. Liberals consider their viewpoints final and w/o further discussion. So you conservative sub-humans better sit down in the back of the bus and shut up.”
Precisely! They believe they are “SUPERIOR” beings.
Interesting perhaps...My wife is a CSR for the largest National Truckload Carrier in the U.S. One of her observations is that Liberal dominated areas of the Nation tend to discourage local manufacturing businesses through taxation and onerous Environmental laws to allegedly maintain a “Pristine” environment, thus no such businesses exist in such areas to support the local economies. Telluride is one of those she mentions.
This means that trucking in the necessities of life to such an area with no freight for the truckers to backhaul out forces the trucking companies to “Deadhead” usually hundreds of miles to other States/locations for freight to haul.
It costs a bloody fortune to do trucking business into Liberal areas due the aforementioned, and is reflected in the charges to do so. Another of multiple reasons it costs so much to live in Liberally dominated areas of the country.
We LOVE Gatlinburg and have planned to return for a week for next year again.
What stupid fools! The city deserves whatever losses that come their way. Just a bunch of lemmings with no brain of their own.
Funny story...I remember the COOOLEST hotel when my parents took me there...Soders on the River or something like that...the creek runs right outside your balcony. Always thought it so neat. So I take my new bride (25 years ago!) to the place, expecting it to be romantic as heck...had to go to another hotel because the noise of the creek kept her awake!
I recently booked flights to Denver and have reserved a rental car but I haven’t made up my mind which are in CO to visit during my 5 day visit...guess where I won’t be visiting.
I don’t know who said it but it’s appropriate here:
The hippy tourist will show up with a $20 bill and a set of underwear and change neither during his visit.
You definitely don’t want to ski in socialist Vermont, New Hampshire is about the only option you have in New England, just stay out of the Keene, Hanover, and Durham area.
I'm from Memphis originally, and the folks there make me proud to be from Tennessee.
My wife and kids were impressed and all want to return.
They were very nice people. They had a tremendous number of cabins you could choose from in ANY price range. We stayed for a week on the East side of Downtown Gatlinburg. It wasn't just a cabin, it was a week of "sanctuary".
We can't wait to return, but we're going to try a different cabin. Not because the first wasn't amazing, but because we want a different experience/view. Just awesome...
