WASHINGTON Former Sen. Fred Thompson, a Republican presidential candidate in waiting, candidly answered a question at a campaign stop in Texas yesterday regarding his membership in the Council on Foreign Relations, sometimes referred to as a "shadow government" organization of elites with a global agenda.
In an exchange caught on YouTube that later deteriorated into a police encounter, an activist asked Thompson about his membership in the group, linking it with plans for a "North American Union."

Where did you hear that?
Interesting reading about Thompson

We don't know what she was doing -- what kind of shoving or jostling or elbowing was going on.. Thee "interviewer" clearly wasn't focusing her attention on the camera, because even the rankest amateur could get the subject's head in the frame once in a while.
While she asks her question and while Fred answers, Fred is completely out of frame and the camera is shaking like an epileptic making a martini.
Just after the woman asks her question, she starts saying stop touching me" and you can hear a man's voice saying "everyone is touching everyone." She walked into the middle of the scrum. Later, when she again starts to wig out about being touched, a male voice -- sounds like the same one -- says "please stay out of my shot. And then we have the audio of a full-fledged freak-out fit.
I don't buy the claim that she was manhandled for asking an impertinent question. She was led out of the room three-some minutes after the question, after continuing to shove her way to the front, and after having a "Why are you touching me? Stop touching me! You can't touch me!" wig-out.
"You asked me a question. Let me answer it. There are several conservatives over the years who have been members of the Council on Foreign Relations. I try to learn as much as I can from all viewpoints. I have been a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, one of the conservative thinks tanks in town, and enjoy having intellectual exercise and discussions whether I agree or not with anyone on any particular issue."
Here’s the quote WND attributes to Thompson:
“I didn’t know they were up to that,” said Thompson. “Now, don’t fuss at me. You asked me a question. Let me answer it. There are several conservatives over the years who have been members of the Council on Foreign Relations. I try to learn as much as I can from all viewpoints. I have been a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, one of the conservative thinks tanks in town, and enjoy having intellectual exercise and discussions whether I agree or not with anyone on any particular issue.”
So where is the rest of the story? Where is the rest of Fred’s answer?
That's because there isn't a "NAU task force." You might as well ask the CFR which of its members are among the Learned Elders of Zion or the faculty of Hogwarts.
The only dishonesty Clara Lou is your spin.
There are two possibilities. He says he didn’t know.
If he doesn’t know, he’s uninformed and unprepared.
If he says he didn’t know, but he really does know, he lied.
So stop making excuses for him. I’m not the one being dishonest and your personal attacks do nothing to advance your POV.
i never said anything about shutting her up.
and don't preach. it's very annoying.
btw, the world trade center was not an inside job.
what if it was a CODE PINK supporter or a liberal plant from moveon.org screaming the questions? same to you?
God bless her. All the candidates should be asked directly about the North American Union. Denying any knowledge is unacceptable. This issue trumps Iraq.
someday i am going to post the pictures i have of debbie... they’re not pretty, if you know what i mean. she’s nuts.
“Actually, if you read Jim’s entire post, you’ll see that Thompson did,in fact, answer the woman’s question.”
I never said Thompson didn’t answer the question. He did.
I said, strictly in reference to her question about the CFR’s agenda for creating a NAU, Thompson DID respond, but said that “he didn’t know they were doing that”, and, as such, was uninformed on the subject and unprepared to discuss it.
I don’t consider his answer to that part of her question a big fat nothing. That is where I disagree.
The main page for the report is here. You can download the full report or scroll down for a full list of task force members.
Don't worry about not voting for any task force member. None is a candidate for any office.
Lovely.
I do believe I now have too many ‘red flags’ to count.
Third option: He knows they're up to no such thing, and he didn't want to call her a liar and let arguing with a loon derail the whole event.
“”I didn’t know they were up to that,” said Thompson”.”
Fred is a good actor, but playing coy and dumb is weak, unconvincing and a chink in his armor.
She did nothing to warrant her removal. She asked her question, then remained silent. She started her tirage only after they grabbed her.
I find no fault with the First Ammendment, even for people you assume to be kooks. I do have great trouble with the perceived need to remove a person because of the nature of a question. That speaks volumes, and appears to be damage control.
I doubt that she was jailed and I doubt that anyone here thinks she should be jailed. However, she was appropriately removed when she became disruptive.
That's all the answer you're going to get.
You see, Fred isn't a candidate, he's a celebrity.
So he doesn't have to answer questions like a politician.
IOW, he's special! ;^)
