If Majority Leader Harry Reid can’t start pulling troops out of Iraq, he doesn’t want to start paying them any more either.
After an amendment to begin withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq within 120 days failed to receive the 60 votes needed to proceed, Reid set the entire defense authorization bill aside. By doing so, he shelved a 3.5 percent pay raise for all uniformed service personnel, $4 billion in equipment upgrades and a new program to treat traumatic brain injuries.
To increase pressure on Republicans to support the measure, sponsored by Sen. Carl Levin (D.-Mich.) and Sen. Jack Reed (D.-R.I.), Reid threw the Senate into an all night session on Tuesday evening that lasted through Wednesday morning. Levin-Reid fell eight votes short, 52-47.
“There are two things that I want to accomplish,” Reid told reporters immediately after the amendment vote. “One is to pass a defense authorization bill, but with a deadline dealing with Iraq. Once we put that together, we'll move forward on it.”
This man is sick, sick, sick. So are the Dems who are agreeing with him, and the Republicans who let him get away with every twisted statement in the book.
The President should be in front of the fireside TONIGHT having a TV talk with our citizens and military personnel on the crisis facing this nation due to the traitors in government like Reid working toward our defeat. He should be reassuring our troops that he and the public are behind them and will fight for them in every way.
Where the hell is he? At a weekend Camp David pollo barbeque y fiesta?
The GOP leadership and members of both Senate and House should have been on the steps of Congress THIS MORNING AND THROUGH THE NIGHT in a marathon press conference, keeping it going with cots lining the railings. Like the Dem slumber party the other night.
Prop a pajama-clad dummy-effigy of Harry Reid in a chair on the steps. Have him holding a white surrender flag. Now we're talking.
However, the numb-brained Republican strategerists have never understood street theater and never will.
The Dems never quit firing their cannons. The Republicans never even start.
The silence from our side is deafening. I guess we're dreaming if we believe the President and the GOP leaders will REALLY fight for our country with frontal attacks on home-grown enemies like our troops are doing to the enemy abroad.
We're in a nightmare that appears to be never-ending, with no one with the cajones, the guts or the skill to get us out of it.

No, recall is our only choice but unless you have the media on your side it is terrible expensive.

I don’t think that it would be possible to recall a Democrat with our Left leaning media unless you wanted to spend a billion, with a capital B, dollars. The media would fight you every step of the way.

You hit the nail on the head, but it goes one step further. The basis of Commielibs is to minimize the military into a meals on wheels social organization. What happens when they win this thing and Iraq turns into the only other Democracy besides Israel in the ME?
The military would be far too powerful and respected for their liking. You are right, The Surge is Working and that is their biggest Nightmare.

I wish someone would ask Reid, Pelosi and all the other traitors in congress what they would say to the family of the last marine or soldier killed before this deadline takes effect. They promote delayed surrender claiming they support the troops, the ones who will die in vain waiting for the Democrats and some spineless Republicans to prevent them from succeeding for purely political purposes. If they are so intent on getting out, they should be demanding we leave before anyone else is killed rather than this nonsense, which is essentially saying we are going to let a few more die before we undermine the mission. Maybe I am naïve, but that is the way I see it.
