Dean: We Need to Change Course in Iraq Now, Not September
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement in support of the Senates efforts to change course in Iraq and responsibly redeploy our troops:
Democrats believe we need to change course in Iraq now, not in September, and are holding Congressional Republicans accountable for obstructing the will of the American people and military experts, Dean said. President Bush and Republican leaders stubbornly continue to ignore the facts on the ground. Today, a new National Intelligence Estimate provides additional evidence that Republicans have failed to make our homeland safe, allowing Al Qaeda to rebuild. While Republicans continue to back the war in Iraq, keeping us from fighting the terrorists where they are, on the Afghan-Pakistan border, Democrats have stood united in their fight to change course in Iraq. We hope that Republicans will have the backbone to vote with Democrats to end this war. But if they dont, electing a Democratic president in 2008 is the only way to ensure that our troops return home soon."
Fighting over the best time to whine and snivel and give up.
Maybe Midnight Basketball could help......
If we wait until September, we might win! The news gets better every day!

Yep, Dean’s the guy I want to take advice from.
Aiiiiieeeeeeyaaaaahhhhhh!!!!
Hey Deano, the American Public is speaking right now! Only 14%, which would comprise only the left wing idiot fringe including You, approve of the Job Congress is doing now! The rest of US want to WIN in Iraq and not surrender to these Terrorists.
What government position does Dr. Howard Dean hold? Oh, that’s right! He doesn’t! Why should his opinion count any more than mine, yours or Cindy Sheehan’s?
Change course?... he wants to invade Pakistan? Nah, I don’t believe that. What I believe is he’s lying again. But seriously, the Surge will never be allowed to be portrayed as a win... not with an election coming up. It will be annoying and insulting to our intelligence again but people will believe it because the country is war weary and they just want it to stop. Republican candidates will be promising “peace with honor”...again.
Deano isn’t worthy of having Dr. preceed his name, Idiot, Traitor and a raft of other Titles do come to mind tho!
Just what was the situation AQ was in from which they are rebuilding?
Howard Dean = End A War...Doh!
Dean? Howard Dean? I thought he died and went to hell.
Haven’t heard that name in a while. Guess he’s looking for another 15 minutes of fame
Saddam and the boys were very good record keepers. This became evident very quickly. Dems are running scared.
The Iraqi Surge is Operation Enduring Freedom's Tet Offensive.
We live in historical and fascinating times ... We're armed and they're threatening us.
I think Dean just set a new record for the number of spins in one statement:
- “We need to change course now” - to what? What is our new course?
- Republicans are obstructing the will of the American people and military experts - Um...American people want us to win and the military experts don’t want to leave.
- Facts on the ground - You mean the ones which point to us having substantial successes?
- “Republicans have failed to make our homeland safe” - ridiculous statement
- “allowing Al Qaeda to rebuild” - No, this is what the enemy does during a war.
- “keeping us from fighting the terrorists where they are, on the Afghan-Pakistan border” - So, let me get this straight. Dean want an immediate course correction, which is never stated, but then says that our troops should really be in Afghanistan to fight Al-Qaeda there, but then ends his statement with - “electing a Democratic president in 2008 is the only way to ensure that our troops return home soon”.
There you have it. Dean wants Republican Senators to listen to the American people who really want us to win the war and to listen to the military experts who want us to stay and continue with the surge. He also wants a course correction to an new course which is never discussed because we should really be in Afghanistan and our troops should come home now.
As you probably know, the report says that some AQ leaders have rebuilt their management structure IN IRAN. That’s a lot different from saying they’ve rebuilt themselves in Iraq or elsewhere.
They are on the run in Iraq.
