Will Spielberg and Kushner do to President Lincoln what they did to the Munich Olympic terrorist attack? Just in time to smear a Republican hero President before the 2008 election.

More info on Wikipedia, but FR doesn't allow posts from there.

True...they will do their best.

Despite the fact that the big slave-owners were Democrats!

I doubt it it - Lincoln is too large a figure to be considered "Republican". More likely they will try to equate today's Republicans and the war in Iraq with the Confederate leaders Lincoln had to contend with.

According to IMDB, Liam Neeson has signed on to play Abraham Lincoln.

I finally got around to watching that unholy mess called “Munich” last night. The only thing that could be applauded was the physical look, but the screenplay was total $hit and extremely difficult to follow. The made for tv films about these incidents (this and Raid on Entebbe) in the ‘70s were far superior to this mess.

All “Munich” showed me was that with a bad script even a Speilburg flick can suck. (A lesson I should have remembered from A.I.)

Great....Kushner, a gay who wrote the Angels in America gayfest, will have fun with Lincoln's sleeping in the same bed with Joshua Speed for four years!

BTW, I am on page 291 of D.K. Goodwin's Team of Rivals.

Not a fan of Goodwin, but I've learned a lot about Lincoln, Seward, Bates & Chase - the four members of the team.

This is not to start a fight. Why does FR not allow posts from Wikipedia? Must be a good reason.

"Munich's" Oscar-nominated screenwriter Tony Kushner is officially on the job.

Oh great, another America-hating liberal is going to write another "true" story.

If he's as "accurate" with this as he was with Munich, expect Lincoln to be supporting gay marriage and universal health care.

Steven Spielberg's upcoming adaptation of "Team of Rivals" (about the political career of President Abraham Lincoln) is consistently one of the more popular projects he has in development at this time.

Oh goodie. A book by an admitted plagarist about a President that ignored the Constitution. I'm sure it will be as factual as the next Harry Potter movie....

I wonder. Will they have a stunt double for Liam as he portrays abe jumping out of a legislative building to avoid a vote? Or perhaps the early speech where abe stated his desire to be the next Dewitt Clinton? I know it will have to cover his first Inaugural Address where he stated he supported the original 13th Amendment on slavery...well as long as he could have his tax dollars.

I'm sure Ms. Goodwin touched on all of these important points in his life didn't she?

Would love to see them tackle the illicit affair between President Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest...

"...then you really need to go back and look at Kushner's brilliant work on "Munich."

Turn murdering thugs into poor helpless victims. Ya... now that's just f'n brilliant.

Tony Kushner is the biggest fraud going. “Angels in America” and his other stage plays are all hype, and he ruined the Munich story. Might as well have signed John Wilkes Booth for the rewrite.

As long as the screenwriter uses DeLorenzo’s biography and the Lyman references it will be factual.

I watched Spielberg on TCM last week. The show was devoted to his films. I consider myself a film buff but I do not particularly like mainstream commercial fare. I checked IMDB and the only Spielberg films that I have seen are Duel, Sugarland Express, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and the last Indiana Jones film that had one of my favorite actors Sean Connery in it. Some guy named Hanks sure has made a lot of films for Speilberg, oh well maybe I will catch him sometime in a film that appeals to me.

Wonder how they’ll portray Lincoln’s conflict with the Northern Copperhead Democrats whose position and tactics during the Civil War looked a lot like those of modern Democrats regarding the war in Iraq.

Assuming he even mentions them, that is.
