What's With Laura Ingraham?
July 13. 2007 | Polish Proud

What's with Laura Ingraham? This morning Peggy Noonan wrote an op ed which included the following criticism of President Bush:

"Every major domestic initiative of his second term has been ill thought through and ended in failure. His Iraq leadership has failed. His standing is lower than any previous president's since polling began.",

Laura loved Noonan's op ed. Go gal, kick him when he's down.

Ingraham is taking herself too seriously. Yesterday she was aghast over security chief Chertoff's "gut feeling." I don't know why. I would appreciate any source regarding security even Chertoff's gut. She also found Chertoff less than handsome. What a cheap shot.

Ingraham lost me when she went over to the dark side on the Foley scandal. She thought Hastert should have resigned for not protecting male pages from gay congressmen.

Bill Kristol, yesterday on her show, suggested that now is the time that talk show hosts should support the president. His comment went right over her head.

>Bush had his reasons for Immigration reform, albeit wrong, but it’s a cheap shot to attribute some nefarious plot on his part to make the US a tin pot dictatorship.<

Oh, but P_B was spot on, PP. W, like his dad, are both globalists, and fully intend to eradicate our sovereignty to establish a one world government. Erasing our borders is part of the plan to bring our great nation down to a third world economy, annihilating the middle class, introducing multi-culturalism to further erode our Republic.

The amazing American people mustered forces to defeat W’s Amnesty bill recently, but must be at the ready for the next serious scrimmage, the Fairness Doctrine, which, if passed, will silence conservative talk radio, the last bastion for the voice of the American people.

It is high time some people remove the blinders from their eyes, look around and notice what has been going on.

I first saw President Reagan as a foot, highly polished brown cordovan wagging merrily on a hassock. I spied it through the door. It was a beautiful foot, sleek. Such casual elegance and clean lines! But not a big foot, not formidable, maybe a little ...frail. I imagined cradling it in my arms, protecting it from unsmooth roads. -- Peggy Noonan

Gag!! If Nancy had known Noonan felt that way, she would have kicked her out of the WH.

Laura has made it very clear that she supports Bush on the war. She does not support him on immigration and does not like many of the people that work for him regarding immigration.

Why is it that something is supposed to be wrong with people if they vehemently disapprove of some of the things Bush does?

We aren’t robots, we are thinking human beings. At this time, we still have the right to speak out if we disapprove.

Bush and jertoff both need to be criticized. Neither one has the ability to really protect this country from the threat, because they both bow to the great god of PC.

How many times have you heard W define victory in Iraq as an Iraq that can sustain and defend itself and is a partner in the War on Terror?

We also have the benefit of annihilating the Al Qaeda terrorists that have worn out their welcome in Iraq.

Come over to the good guy’s side. We’ll leave the light on for you.

Good post!

Laura Ingraham is reacting like Peggy Noonan because generally, when she talks about things outside her professional and academic specialty (law, especially Constitutional law) like Peggy Noonan she becomes a creature of emotion-— although unlike Peggy Noonan she is too conservative to revert to Roosevelt leftism in those instances.

Thus, unlike Rush or, say, Tammy Bruce, Ingraham cannot separate her emotions about President Bush’s support of a bad immigration bill and saying some dumb things about it, Lindsay Graham’s accusations of bigotry and the need to support the President when he is taking heat on far more important issues, ie the WOT.

The fact is, a Mark Levin who can wholeheartedly support the administration and criticize the hell out of it and do so with fire and logic is very rare, or a Rush Limbaugh who can do it with the comic timing of a Phil Hartman is very rare.

Ingraham is often funny and her comments on the soundbites she plays of the Sunday shows are often priceless. She’s not really changing, she’s just what she is-— someone who either doesn’t understand or support basic free market economics, is obsessed with evil “elites” and the snow white pure “Real America”, often reacts in a simplistic way, but is also often funny and insightful about Democrats and the MSM.

Try Frank Beckman from WJR on the internet in her timeslot! He’s great!

Rush believes that political intensity cannot be maintained except for a limited period of time. He carefully husbanded, cultivated, and maintained that intensity until time to deliver it. As for “...golf patter...”, etc., a little comic relief was needed at that time, at least for me. A sense of humor can be a formidable weapon, or he wouldn’t be the Mac Daddy of them all.

So why hasn’t it been our problem ever before, for 5,000 years, since Biblical times, when Arabs were killing Arabs? Why just since Bush became Prez?

What makes it our obligation to save Middle Eastern Muslims from themselves?

First, I don't understand those who say that Bush has called those who opposed the immigration bill racists, nativists, semi-retarded idiots. GWB has never said such things.

No, his remarks were slightly more subtle, "don't want what's right for the country," etc.

But Bush's surrogate, the temporary senator from SC, Lindsey Graham, told La Raza...freakin' LA RAZA....that he was going to tell the bigots to shut up! You didn't hear that either, did you?

If you have the least clue about politics, then you understand the surrogate game...kind of good cop/bad cop.

If Graham -- Bush's man -- said something that Bush was uncomfortable with, then it was Bush's responsibility to disavow it.

Graham's contemptible remark was replayed thousands and thousands of times. The White House was not unaware. Did you hear them try to walk it back? They were okay with it. It expressed the kind of contempt for the base that Bush himself feels.

Ingraham is always faulting the President for not selling the war, but if you don’t have the press on your side, no matter what you say, it wont get out, Dah.

True, but after 7 years of Bush's aw shucks style of speaking, I've determined he sucks as a communicator.

Being there and fighting is really two different things. And how long ago has it been since Laura has been there? Iraq has always been improving....gradual...but what would one expect after what horrible shape the country was in since Saddamn never improved much of anything. He only built palaces and bought weapons....oh let's not forget tortured and massacred Iraqis'...

If Laura is going to only bash Bush and not look at what Bush has accomplished which is a far cry from the last bunch in the WH...she's not helping our cause whatsoever...shame on her...

All good points, and right on the money IMO. I used to listen to LI several days/week because she was sharp and FUNNY. Not so much now. It would be interesting to see how her ratings are doing over the past several months.

Laura Ingrahm is a pro-America conservative first and a Republican second.
She’s doing a fine job of holding the rats in the Republican party near the heat they deserve.

Right - I agree.

She has not been the same since. She also does not see the facts and just theorizes.

Both are major liberals

They are in a very very small percentile of our military. Our military are mostly very conservative. If they're liberal I guess they hate Bush.

BWAH! From your keyboard to the mod's ears. I'm reading FR less and less because of how the exact same points regurgitated ad nauseum can be read on the loony blogs and boards. Tiresome times one hundred.
